Last night’s broadcast
Recapping last night’s games
The game that was broadcast by MTSN
Ensworth-Nolensville-Lipscomb 2 (12-0-2), Summit-Page 0 (7-3-1)
Logan Campbell scored the opening (and game-winning) goal with just under 3:30 left in the first, when he deflected a Henry Cravens shot into the roof of the net from in front. The 1-0 lead held up all the way until there were just 68 seconds left in the game, when Campbell scored again, this time on the power play, after Hudson Honeybone found him near the right-hand side of the Summit net, sent a perfect tape-to-tape pass, and Campbell went to the front of the net, and buried it in the bottom left-hand corner. Summit outshot Ensworth 35-10. Bingston Soundara posted maybe the best goaltending performance of the season, turning away wave-after-wave of Spartan attacks. Now, the Ice Tigers can win the GNASH Cup regular season championship if Ravenwood lose either of their games this week. As for Summit’s bid to qualify for the Predators Cup, well, now they need help from outside sources, because they’re not playing again until after the holiday break. Father Ryan and Station Camp merely tying any of their remaining games will clinch a berth for the Spartans.
Next game for both teams
Ensworth-Nolensville-Lipscomb: January 13 vs. Ravenwood @ 8:30 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
Summit-Page: January 16 vs. Franklin @ 8:30 PM @ Antioch-North
The night’s other games
JPII-MLK 3 (8-3-0), Centennial-FRA 0 (4-8-0)
Clayton Roach, Ben Parrish, and Oscar Ford scored the goals for the Knights, who clinch a Predators Cup berth with the win. Meanwhile, the Cougars will end up in the Hine Cup if they don’t beat Father Ryan (meaning loss or tie) on Thursday.
Next game for both teams
JPII-MLK: Tomorrow vs. Tennessee Outlaws @ 8:45 PM @ Centennial A
Centennial-FRA: Thursday vs. Father Ryan @ 8:30 PM @ Antioch-North
Rutherford Rampage 6 (5-9-0), Montgomery County Rangers 2 (0-12-0)
All three Wolfe brothers scored for the Rampage, with Logan Wolfe scoring twice, and Josh and Kyle each chipping in a goal, with the former getting a Senior Night goal. Tucker Wilhelm (also a Senior Night goal) and Corey Abernathy also scored for RuCo. Kolton Harris and PJ Burns scored the Rangers’ two goals. Could these two meet again in the first round of the Hine Cup in the 1 vs. 8 matchup? It’s possible.
Next game for both teams
Rutherford Rampage: January 27 vs. Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson @ 8:30 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
Montgomery County Rangers: Tomorrow vs. Station Camp-Liberty Creek @ 7:10 PM @ Centennial A
Father Ryan 9 (3-7-1), Brentwood 2 (3-10-1)
Gage Hart posted his first GNASH hat trick (heck, it was his first multi-goal game, which is a big shock that he didn’t have one already), Colin Sullivan scored twice, and Curtis Newman, Noah Deffenbaugh, Michael Jaskoski, and Marek McCullars also got on the scoresheet for the Irish. Zane Cesarone (Senior Night goal) and Brody Bohman had the Bruins’ goals. The Irish avoid Hine Cup qualification, but even tying one of their other two games this week means they’re headed that way. Meanwhile, Brentwood squander any remaining chance (it was quite thin, anyway) at the Hine Cup 1 seed. This is also the FOURTH TIME THIS SEASON that the Bruins have allowed nine goals in a game. Every day, the Bruins’ struggles find new ways to surprise me.
Next game for both teams
Father Ryan: Thursday vs. Centennial-FRA @ 8:30 PM @ Antioch-North
Brentwood: January 13 vs. Independence-BA-USN-Nashville Christian @ 7:40 PM @ Centennial B
Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson 6 (9-2-1), Montgomery Bell 1 (6-3-2)
This is one of the most surprising results of the season, and a big step back for an MBA team I thought had turned the corner. Gideon Drobnick had a hat trick for the Commandos, while Landon Croft scored twice, and the other goal came from Josh Lodl (Is that his first GNASH goal? The HHS Ice Hockey admin - the best social media admin in all of GNASH - will know the answer to that.). Trace Graham had the Big Red’s lone tally. So, I was wondering if this was the annual December game where Hunter Wieck gets the night off. Nope; he played the whole thing in goal. What happened, MBA?
Next game for both teams
Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson: Tomorrow vs. Ravenwood @ 8:30 PM @ Centennial A
Montgomery Bell: Friday vs. Tennessee Outlaws @ 5:40 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp (this will be their Senior Night game)
