Last night’s broadcast
Recapping last night’s games
The game that was broadcast by MTSN
Ravenwood 8 (9-1-1), Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson 6 (9-3-1)
[inhales] Here we go. Gideon Drobnick opened the scoring one second shy of two minutes into the game, when he buried the rebound from his own saved shot. Just over three minutes later, Cooper Hill tied the game, when he carried puck across the front of the Hendersonville net, and got goalie Griffen Rumbaugh to dive out to try and take the puck away, leaving the net wide open, allowing Hill to backhand the puck in. The Raptors then won the subsequent faceoff, and took the lead nine seconds later, when Brady Friedman scored five-hole from the high slot. Just over two minutes later, the Commandos got back on level terms, when Landon Croft took a shot from the right circle that leaked through Raptors goalie Reese Mackenzie and in. With just 27 seconds left in the first, Hill scored again, when, with Ravenwood short-handed, he waited at the Commandos blue line for a stretch pass, which he got, then carried down the slot to beat Rumbaugh five hole, and Ravenwood carried a 3-2 lead into the second. The second period was nuts. Just 70 seconds into the middle frame, Hendersonville tied the game again, when Carter Morrison found Drobnick hanging out at the left-hand side of the Ravenwood net, redirecting the centering pass in. Just over five minutes later, the Commandos regained the lead, when Morrison took the puck from his own slot, carried it all the way to the front of the Raptors net, and shot it into the right-hand side. Just 3:07 after that, Hill tied the game with his hat trick goal, putting it in the top left-hand corner from in front. 42 seconds later, the Raptors went back in front, when Mason Reed found Liam Powell going all alone to the front of the Commandos net, and fed him the puck, with Powell doing the rest. Just 50 seconds later, Hendersonville tied the game again, when Zeke Landkammer failed to take the puck out of his own zone, leaving it at the left point, allowing Brian Wilkinson to grab it, carry it down the left wing, and center it in front for Braden Rose, who roofed it. Just under 90 seconds later, the Commandos took the lead again, when Croft scored his second from the slot, sending it into the bottom corner on the left-hand side of the Raptors net, and Hendersonville led 6-5 after two. The Raptors didn’t allow Hendersonville to score again. Just over 2:30 into the third, Ravenwood tied the game for the last time, when Powell knocked down a Wyatt Franks clearing attempt right at the blue line, and sent the puck down the slot to Hill, who backhanded it in from in front for his fourth goal of the game. Just under three minutes later, Jake Farrell scored the winning goal, when the puck came all the way to the front of the net, where he was waiting to stuff it in. Hill scored the game’s final goal - and his fifth - with 55 seconds left, when he reached around the right-hand side of the empty net from behind it, and tucked the puck in. So, Ravenwood’s GNASH Cup hopes are still alive, and Reese Mackenzie is still perfect in goal for the Raptors, now 6-0-0. As for Hendersonville, too many mistakes (mostly leaving Hill alone anywhere on the ice) cost them a great chance at staking a claim to the Preds Cup 2 seed. It’s a good thing they weren’t facing Colin Gower, or else, they might not have scored six goals.

Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson: January 15 vs. JPII-MLK @ 8:45 PM @ Centennial A
The night’s other games
Station Camp-Liberty Creek 10 (4-6-2), Montgomery County Rangers 3 (0-13-0)
Toby Mehaffy and Chase Ullrich (who must be a new player, because he’s not on my roster, and I don’t recall seeing him the last time I did a Bison game just three weeks ago, during their come-from-behind win against Rutherford) each had hat tricks, while Patrick McCarthy, Dom DeMaria, Joey Siciliano, and Dominic Reetz scored the other Station Camp goals. For the Rangers, Jackson Curran scored twice, with Colton Beshires potting the other goal.
JPII-MLK 6 (9-3-0), Tennessee Outlaws 3 (6-5-2)
Clayton Roach scored four times for the Knights, with their other two goals coming from Saxon Clements. Logan Wood, Cam Miles, and Dalton Alejandro (Senior Night Goal™) had the Outlaws’ goals. The Outlaws jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first, only to have the game completely slip away. Those are two MASSIVE fumbled points towards Preds Cup qualification. I really don’t think they’ll pick up any more points in their last two games; if they get into the Preds Cup, it’ll be by the skin of their teeth.
Next game for both teams
JPII-MLK: January 13 vs. Station Camp-Liberty Creek @ 5:30 PM @ Centennial A
Tennessee Outlaws: Tomorrow vs. Montgomery Bell @ 5:40 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
Standings
Scenarios for tonight
The LOSER of tonight’s game will end up with a place in the Henry Hine Cup.
Centennial-FRA will end up with a place in the Henry Hine Cup if the game ends in a TIE.
Previewing tonight’s game
Father Ryan (3-7-1) vs. Centennial-FRA (4-8-0) - 8:30 PM @ Antioch-North
And so begins a whirlwind 24 hours for the Fighting Irish, who will be back in Antioch tomorrow to take on Ravenwood before 6 PM. It must have been cathartic for Ryan to whip up on Brentwood the way they did on Monday, scoring nine goals, and Zach Fonnesbeck finally picking up his first win of the season. I wonder how they’ll work the goalie situation out here: Play Jack Karpynec tonight against the Cougars, and let Fonnesbeck go in net against Ravenwood tomorrow (if he doesn’t have to be out tomorrow because of travel, that is)? Either way, it looks like it’ll be David Busby in net for Centennial.
Pick: Ryan
