Tonight’s broadcast

Nolensville vs. Ravenwood - 7:35 PM pregame, 7:40 PM faceoff BROADCAST LINK

Senior Night ceremonies

Franklin and the Rutherford Rampage are having their Senior Night ceremonies tonight.

Scenarios for tonight

Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Lebanon will end up with a Henry Hine Cup spot if they LOSE TO OR TIE WITH Page-Summit, AND Nolensville DEFEAT Ravenwood, OR they TIE WITH Page, AND Nolensville DEFEAT Ravenwood.

The Tennessee Outlaws will be eliminated from contention for the GNASH Cup regular season championship if they LOSE TO Brentwood-BA-USN, OR they TIE WITH Brentwood, AND Ravenwood DEFEAT Nolensville.

Independence-Centennial will be eliminated from contention for the GNASH Cup regular season championship if they LOSE TO the Rutherford Rampage.

Previewing tonight’s games

The game that MTSN will broadcast is in BOLD.

Brentwood-BA-USN (0-9-1) vs. Tennessee Outlaws (3-6-1) - 4:45 PM @ Centennial A
Here we are with another one of the few games on paper that the Bruins can win, but they’re coming up against an Outlaws team fresh off of beating Ravenwood for a second straight season, but this time, it was against a Ravenwood only missing Brady Friedman and Jake Farrell due to suspensions. Malakai Hogan and Noah Kuehn scored for Tennessee, showing that the future of their offense is in good hands. Meanwhile, the Bruins are locked into the Hine Cup now, so, they need to start picking up more points for a higher seed (they can still get as high as 2, but they can’t get to 1 because Ensworth, who currently occupy the Hine Cup 1 seed, own the head-to-head tiebreaker with the Bruins). They still have to play Station Camp and Ravenwood, but have a couple more realistic chances against the Kings and Rampage. But, I don’t know if they’ll be able to beat the Outlaws tonight. Brody Bohman is suspended for tonight’s game because he was called for a checking from behind major and game misconduct against Nolensville last week.

Game prediction: Outlaws

Rutherford Rampage (1-9-1) vs. Independence-Centennial (3-5-2) - 6:30 PM @ Centennial A
This game is a must-win for Indy if they want to sneak into the Preds Cup. If they don’t, you may as well stick them in the Hine Cup. They’re four points behind 8th place Nolensville, and they need both points to keep pace with the Knights. Like I said last week, Indy need to win four of their last five games to have a real shot at getting into the big show, but three of their last four after tonight are against Ensworth, Franklin, and MBA. They’ll have to play tonight without Aiden Gardner, who is suspended because he got called for four penalties against Hendersonville last week. They do get Cash Branyan back in the lineup and Mark Layne back behind the bench after they served one-game suspensions last week, though. The Rampage, like Brentwood, are locked into the Hine Cup, so, they’ll now be trying to nab points to get a higher seed. They aren’t pushovers, and, if they still had Eddie Maze in the lineup, I might be picking them to win this game. But they don’t, and I think that Indy have the better goaltending, so, I’ll go their way.

Game prediction: Indy

Franklin (6-2-2) vs. Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA (5-3-1) - 6:30 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
Both of these teams need the two points for various reasons: The Admirals need it to really put the pressure on Station Camp in the GNASH Cup race, and the Ice Tigers need it to enhance their hopes of getting into the Predators Cup. Ensworth played by far their best game of the season last week against Station Camp, beating the Bison in fine fashion, forcibly tilting the ice in their direction in the third period. Trex Hooper led the Ensworth offense, as expected, with a hat trick, and Reuben Allen had maybe his biggest quality start in GNASH to date. Meanwhile, Franklin made up a 3-1 second period deficit to go up 4-3 against Page, only for Liam Garner to score the game-tying goal with just over 90 seconds left, and it ended 4-4. Once again, Franklin were chasing the game from the start due to their offense getting a slow start, trailing the Spartriots 2-0 after the first. That can’t happen again tonight, especially with Hooper starting to play like his old self, and Clayton Roach also beginning to get hot, having scored two goals in each of his last two games. It’s a Franklin game, so, it will no doubt be physical, but they have to score early, or, they might be chasing the game late again.

Game prediction: Ensworth

Nolensville (5-3-2) vs. Ravenwood (7-2-1) - 7:40 PM @ Centennial B
The last thing the Raptors probably want to do after dropping two straight is turn around and face Nolensville, because that means facing their old nemesis Bingston Soundara. As previously mentioned, Ravenwood lost on Wednesday to the Outlaws. They were without Brady Friedman and Jake Farrell due to suspension, but I don’t think their presences would’ve helped out. The Ravenwood offense must put pucks in the net immediately and often, or, they’ll be staring a third straight loss in the face. Friedman, Keaton Moffitt, and Grady Fernan need to be carrying the torch and jumping on Soundara quickly, because it’s very likely that one of Spencer Kern, Charlie Bohnert, Jackson Malleus-Mayer, and Henry Cravens (or maybe even Carson Ragancik) will score a first period goal. If Nolensville have a lead of any kind after the first, there’s a decent chance that the game is over. If Ravenwood want to win the GNASH Cup, they must win this game, as three of their next (and last) four are against Franklin, Ensworth, and Station Camp. I, though, will pick the Knights in this one.

Game prediction: Nolensville

Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Lebanon (3-8-0) vs. Page-Summit (6-2-2) - 8:15 PM @ Centennial A
The Bears’ loss to JPII last Wednesday was very likely the fatal blow to any slim hopes of getting into the Preds Cup. Now, they’re facing a Page team in the nine-team hunt for the GNASH Cup. MJ’s closing stretch is pretty brutal: Page, Father Ryan, and MBA, with their January 5 game against the Rampage being the only winnable one on paper. This is an important two-point pickup for the Spartriots, as their next two games are against MBA and Father Ryan, before a rather kind two-game closer with the Kings and Outlaws. They should have no trouble winning this game, as long as they don’t overlook the Bears, something they were doing back in October.

Game prediction: Page

Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson (6-3-1) vs. Montgomery Bell (6-2-2) - 8:15 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
Both need the two points to stay in the GNASH Cup hunt, but the Commandos need them more to ensure Preds Cup qualification. Last Tuesday marked one year since Hendersonville beat the Big Red 6-1 what was certainly one of the biggest surprises of the 2024-25 season. That game marked Hendersonville’s final win of the season, as it would totally collapse after this, culminating in the Commandos missing out on a Top 4 seed from the Preds Cup, instead ending up with the 7, and then losing twice on back-to-back nights to suffer a quick exit and end to their season. MBA - who came into last year’s clash with the exact same record as this season - would bounce back, winning their last four games of the regular season, securing the Preds Cup 3 seed, and getting all the way to the Losers’ Bracket Final, where Ravenwood would finally dispatch them in overtime. The casts this time around are mostly the same, with the most notable difference being in MBA’s crease: Tripp Bland will be in it instead of Hunter Wieck. Oh, and Hendersonville’s head coach: Seth Lake is now behind the bench instead of Stephen Sullivan. Both offenses are clicking: MBA have scored 64 goals, Hendersonville 49, and they both recently had a blowout win: MBA beat JPII 13-3, while Hendersonville beat the Outlaws 11-4. But from the looks of the box scores, it seems that the Big Red’s offense tends to get going earlier than Hendersonville’s, although I’d say that the Commandos have more speed. I think I’ll lean towards the Big Red in the rematch.

Game prediction: MBA
