Last night’s broadcast
Recapping last night’s games
The game that was broadcast by MTSN
Ravenwood 4 (8-2-1), Nolensville 3 (5-4-2)
Nearly three minutes into the first period, with a Ravenwood power play seconds away from expiring, Jake Farrell shot the puck off of Knights goalie Bingston Soundara, with the rebound ending up on the stick of Keaton Moffitt, standing to Soundara’s left; Soundara went down, allowing Moffitt to backhand the puck into the roof of the net. Nearly four minutes later, Nolensville tied the game, when Spencer Kern found Carson Ragancik in the slot, passed him the puck, and Ragancik took a shot that went in through the legs of Raptors goalie Colin Gower, glancing off the inside of his left shin on the way in, and it was 1-1 after one. Nearly three minutes into the second, with the Raptors on another power play, a Knights clearing attempt hit Ben Campbell and stayed in the zone, with the puck eventually ending up at the left-hand side of the Nolensville net, where Moffitt passed it across to Grady Fernan for a tap-in goal. Just over six minutes later, Ravenwood won a draw in their own zone, and Anthony Maltese cleared the puck up the bleachers side of the ice, with Cooper Friedman eventually catching up to it at the Nolensville blue line, carried it in and down the slot, and roofed it from in front. Nearly two minutes later, Farrell was behind the net, and found Lucas Voyles all alone in front, passing him the puck, and Voyles shot it into the bottom left-hand corner. 69 seconds later, the Raptors were about to be called for a penalty, but that was canceled out by Jackson Malleus-Mayer carrying the puck right to the net and backhanding it in, and it was 4-2 Raptors after two. With just over four minutes left, Charlie Bohnert scored the game’s final goal with Nolensville on the power play; he got a centering pass from behind the net, and took a shot that went off of Gower, popped up in the air, and landed on the goal line behind him; Gower then moved backwards, pushing the puck into the net. A big win for Ravenwood to snap a two-game losing streak that was a big headscratcher. And it puts them back at the top of GNASH. As for Nolensville, it’s a setback in both their pursuit of the GNASH Cup and a place in the Predators Cup; they still have to play Hendersonville and Ensworth. Could they miss out on the big show? They still have two very winnable games against Clarksville and JPII, so, they might just sneak in.
Next game for both teams
Ravenwood: January 5 vs. Franklin @ 7:40 PM @ Centennial B
Nolensville: Tomorrow vs. Clarksville Kings @ 8:40 PM @ Centennial A
The night’s other games
Brentwood-BA-USN 4 (0-9-2), Tennessee Outlaws 4 (3-6-2)
Joey Fried scored twice for the Bruins, with their other goals coming from Jack Riley and Matthew Melamed, while Josh Kuehn scored twice for the Outlaws, and their other goals came from Clive Keeler and Logan Wood. Brentwood carried a 4-3 lead into the final minute of the game, only for Kuehn to score the tying goal with 45 seconds left. Same thing happened in October, when the Bruins carried a 2-1 lead into the final minute against Indy, only for them to tie the game. Turns out this result was enough to knock the Outlaws out of GNASH Cup contention before the Nolensville/Ravenwood game started, as the Outlaws could still finish the season with 16 points, but only max out on seven wins, whereas Station Camp already have eight, but Ravenwood’s win took them to 17 points, meaning the Outlaws are now out of the GNASH Cup race outright.
Next game for both teams
Brentwood-BA-USN: Tomorrow vs. Station Camp-Liberty Creek-Nashville Christian @ 7:10 PM @ Centennial A
Tennessee Outlaws: January 5 vs. Father Ryan @ 6:30 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
Independence-Centennial 7 (4-5-2), Rutherford Rampage 0 (1-10-1)
Owen Brought and Bryson Patton each scored twice for the Eagles, with their other goals coming from Caleb Mills, Harrington Walker, and Cash Branyan. A “that’s more like it” result for Indy, and last night’s other games see them just two points out of 8th place with four games to go. Clive Neal was in goal for Indy, and picks up his first GNASH win.
Next game for both teams
Independence-Centennial: January 5 vs. Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA @ 8:15 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
Rutherford Rampage: January 5 vs. Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Lebanon @ 8:15 PM @ Centennial A
Franklin 3 (7-2-2), Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA 1 (5-4-1)
Ryan Mannion scored twice for the Admirals, with their other goal coming from Cole Wright, while Saxon Clements had the Ice Tigers’ lone tally. Ensworth were without Trex Hooper, who is out 3-4 weeks with a broken foot, which he sustained in the Ice Tigers’ win against Station Camp last week, after blocking a Merritt Freeman slapshot in the second (which means he completed his hat trick in third on a broken foot; brave man, Trex, brave man), so, he’ll be back before Ensworth’s big games on the first week back from the holiday break, or, he’ll miss those, and return on January 12, when the Ice Tigers face…*checks schedule*…Nolensville. As for Franklin, this is a big win for their GNASH Cup hopes, but they MUST WIN THE NEXT GAME.
Next game for both teams
Franklin: January 5 vs. Ravenwood @ 7:40 PM @ Centennial B
Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA: Thursday vs. Clarksville Kings @ 6 PM @ Ford-Clarksville
Page-Summit 4 (7-2-2), Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Lebanon 3 (3-9-0)
Madden Chandler scored twice for the Spartriots, with their other goals coming from Aiden Meyer and Conlee Meeks, while Jordan Antar, Cade Ellenburg, and Anthony Giampaolo scored for the Bears. Page are now in the thick of the GNASH Cup race, but, like Franklin, need to win their next game. As for Mt. Juliet, they avoid getting a Hine Cup spot because of Nolensville’s loss, but their rope is down to a single thread ready to break; if the Knights even tie Clarksville tomorrow night, the Bears will be a Hine Cup team.
Next game for both teams
Page-Summit: January 5 vs. Montgomery Bell @ 4:45 PM @ Centennial A
Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Lebanon: January 5 vs. Rutherford Rampage @ 8:15 PM @ Centennial A
Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson 4 (7-3-1), Montgomery Bell 1 (6-3-2)
Caden Sisco scored twice for the Commandos, with their other goals coming from Caleb Carlance and Landon Croft, while Matthew Moore had the Big Red’s lone goal. This is a huge win for Hendersonville; are they the dark horse in the GNASH Cup race? Time will tell, but I’ll tell you this: They won’t go winless for the rest of the season like they did after the MBA game last season. They have two very winnable games in their last four.
Next game for both teams
Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson: January 5 vs. Clarksville Kings @ 7 PM @ Ford-Clarksville
Montgomery Bell: January 5 vs. Page-Summit @ 4:45 PM @ Centennial A
