Last night’s broadcast

Recapping last night’s games

The game that was broadcast by MTSN
Page-Summit 4 (6-2-1), Nolensville 2 (4-3-2)
Nearly seven minutes into the first, Hunter Haley opened the scoring, when the Knights turned over the puck to him in the Page zone; he raced through center on the benches side of the ice, entered the Nolensville zone on the left wing side, then moved in on goal, and fired the puck past Bingston Soundara’s blocker into the back of the net. 96 seconds later, Hudson Halters grabbed a loose puck right at the Knights blue line, carried it down the slot, and fired it into the top left-hand corner of the net, and it was 2-0 Spartriots after one. Just over four minutes into the second, Annie Cravens attempted to pass the puck from the endboards, but it went straight to Brayden Owen in the slot; he took a shot that Soundara saved, but Haley was standing to his left to knock the rebound in. 39 seconds later, with Nolensville on the power play, Aiden Meyer attempted a soft shot into the Nolensville zone from behind the blue line, but it hit Henry Cravens, who passed it ahead to Charlie Bohnert, who brought it back into the Page zone, and fired it into the back of the net from the right circle, scoring a Senior Night Goal™. Just over two minutes later, with Page now on the PP, Aiden Garner took the puck from his own zone, carried it through center on the benches side, into the Nolensville zone on the right wing side, then cut across the front of the net, backhanding it in at the right-hand side, and the Spartriots led 4-1 after two. (The GameSheet says the goal was unassisted, but Justin Iannuccilli clearly passed it ahead to Garner, even though it was a feather touch.) With just under four minutes left in the game, Spencer Kern settled a perfect line-drive stretch pass at the Page blue line, carried it into the zone, and passed it to Bohnert, who scored his second Senior Night Goal™ from the right circle, the shot deflecting in off of Iannuccilli’s glove. I don’t normally note defensive plays, but with just over a minute left, Jackson Malleus-Mayer had a breakaway, but right as he got to the Page net, Jonah Ferguson chased him down, and puck his stick down in front of Malleus-Mayer’s, preventing a shot. It’s by far the biggest win of the season for Page, who may be the most talented team in the league, and finally had it all come together against a big opponent. I’d say that this was a critical blow for Nolensville’s GNASH Cup hopes, but considering other results from last night, they may not be out yet!

Next game for both teams
Page-Summit: Next Monday vs. Franklin @ 4:45 PM @ Centennial A
Nolensville: Next Monday vs. Brentwood-BA-USN @ 7:40 PM @ Centennial B

The night’s other games
Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA 6 (3-3-1), Brentwood-BA-USN 0 (0-7-1)
Hudson Honeybone scored twice for the Ice Tigers, with their other four goals coming from Sully Henson, Logan Green, Cam Fowler, and Henry Oeser. The Bruins have the GNASH Cup axe hanging over their heads, not taking it because the two teams that could’ve knocked them out didn’t win or tie. It’s coming, though. It might come tomorrow night or Friday.

Next game for both teams
Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA: Friday vs. Rutherford Rampage @ 5 PM @ Antioch-North
Brentwood-BA-USN: Friday vs. JPII-MLK-GCS @ 5 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp

Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Lebanon 5 (3-7-0), Station Camp-Liberty Creek-Nashville Christian 3 (7-1-0)
Jordan Antar had a hat trick for the Bears, with their other two goals coming from Reid Spencer and Cade Ellenburg (that’s four goals in three games for him), while the Bison’s goals came from McClain Gregory, Mikey Baranyay, and Tommy Siciliano. So, Station Camp’s perfect start to the season is over, and MJ stay in the GNASH Cup race (but again, like Brentwood, they’re going to get knocked out sometime this month). If this had occurred when the Bears were still winless, it would’ve been a seriously embarrassing defeat. Looking at the GameSheet, MJ outshot SC 19-11 over the first two periods, with the Bison beating them in shots in the third 8-3, but the game was lost in the second, where MJ outscored the Bison 3-1. Five of the Bison’s last seven games are against (in order) Father Ryan, Ensworth, MBA, Ravenwood, and Franklin. After a performance like this, I don’t really like their chances against any of those teams. They have two winnable games against Brentwood and JPII, and, as I’ve previously said, seven wins should be enough for a Predators Cup berth, but, I can’t see them staying in the GNASH Cup race after this. As for Mt. Juliet, they still have to play Page, Ryan, and MBA in three of their last five games, so, I think it’s too late for them to get into the Preds Cup at this point, but they can make it interesting.

Next game for both teams
Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Lebanon: December 10 vs. JPII-MLK-GCS @ 8:40 PM @ Centennial A
Station Camp-Liberty Creek-Nashville Christian: Tomorrow vs. Father Ryan @ 7:10 PM @ Centennial A

Independence-Centennial 5 (3-4-2), Ravenwood 4 (7-1-1)
Harrington Walker had a hat trick for the Eagles, scoring the game-tying and game-winning goals FIVE SECONDS APART with just under five minutes to go in the third, while their other two goals came from Aiden Gardner and Tate Butcher. Keaton Moffitt scored twice for the Raptors, with their other two goals coming from Grady Fernan and Lucas Voyles. Starting slowly on offense finally comes back to bite the Raptors; until last night, they’d been facing some weak goaltending, so, they could get away with slow starts, but they finally went up against a top goaltender in David Busby, and, like the Page game, Indy cashed in more of their few chances to win the game. So, the Eagles’ five-game winless streak is finally over; can they grab onto the opportunity this time, and not throw it away again, like they did after the Page win? Their regular season turned into a waste after that game; they could be right in the thick of the GNASH Cup fight, but instead, they’re playing catch-up, trying to get a Top 8 finish for a Preds Cup spot. This was a rough game: There were eight penalties called in the first period, but things seemed to calm down, with only four called in the second, only for tempers to flare BIG TIME at the final buzzer. I personally witnessed this, since the Page-Nolensville game was long over, and I’ll just say that there will definitely be some suspensions out of this. The best thing this result does, however, is make the GNASH Cup race interesting again; now Ravenwood and Station Camp have Page, Franklin, and MBA breathing down their necks, and I think that Father Ryan will be joining in by the end of the week.

Next game for both teams
Independence-Centennial: Next Monday vs. Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson @ 8:15 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
Ravenwood: December 10 vs. Tennessee Outlaws @ 7:10 PM @ Centennial A

Franklin 7 (6-2-1), Rutherford Rampage 1 (1-7-1)
Each of the Admirals’ goals was scored by a different player: David Unger, Wyatt Gerischer, Hank Hayes, Ryan and Michael Mannion, Chase Ottolini, and Graham Fleming (is that his first GNASH goal?). Logan Wolfe scored the only goal for a Rampage team that only had 13 skaters. The result of the game eliminates the Rampage from contention for the GNASH Cup regular season championship, though, thanks to Ravenwood’s loss, they’re only eliminated on the basis that they would lose the head-to-head tiebreaker. They have not yet been eliminated outright, but that’s coming.

Next game for both teams
Franklin: Next Monday vs. Page-Summit @ 4:45 PM @ Centennial A
Rutherford Rampage: Friday vs. Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA @ 5 PM @ Antioch-North

Montgomery Bell 13 (5-2-2), JPII-MLK-GCS 3 (1-5-2)
Matthew Moore and Duke D’Alba had twin hat tricks for the Big Red, and Abe Lasher scored twice. MBA’s five other goals came from Ethan Sides, James Lehrman, Andrew Frech, Hunter Musser, and Lock Ross, scoring his first GNASH goal, having also scored four for MBA in the JV league this season. The Knights’ three goals came from Carter Bahorik, Hugo Ford, and Jagger Dwyer. According to the GameSheet, the Big Red scored their 13 goals on just 21 shots. Ethan Hickerson was in goal for JPII, and after a decent debut in October where he only gave up five to Ravenwood, he took quite the shot to the chin last night. The only way to go is up, though, and the only way to learn is to keep playing.

Next game for both teams
Montgomery Bell: Next Monday vs. Clarksville Kings @ 6:30 PM @ Centennial A (this will be their Senior Night game)
JPII-MLK-GCS: Friday vs. Brentwood-BA-USN @ 5 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
