MTSN GNASH Newsletter for December 6, 2024
Since there’s only one game tonight, and MTSN is broadcasting it, everything is under the “Previewing tonight’s game” header.
Previewing tonight’s game
Summit-Page (6-2-1) vs. Tennessee Outlaws (6-3-2) - 5:45 PM @ Antioch-North
MTSN coverage begins at 5:40 PM BROADCAST LINK
Summit-Page will do their Senior Night ceremony prior to the game.
Tonight’s scenario: Summit-Page will be eliminated from contention for the GNASH Cup regular season championship if they LOSE THIS GAME OR IT ENDS IN A TIE.
So, I didn’t mention this in the Ravenwood-Summit game recap in yesterday’s letter, but very early in the third (maybe not even 20 seconds in), Jacob Rodrigue was facing a wide-open left-hand side of the Raptor net; the puck came his way, he one-timed it, and missed by inches. What if? Regardless, it was a perfect time to have their best game of the season, getting a tie out of a Ravenwood at full song. Now, they take on the only team that’s beaten the Raptors this season. The Outlaws are kicking off a tough three-game stretch to close out their pre-Christmas slate of games: Summit tonight, JPII on Wednesday, and MBA next Friday. They need three more points to qualify for the Predators Cup. To me, the team they need to look over their shoulder for is Station Camp. The Bison have been a frustrating team to play against this season, and like the Outlaws, they, too, have caught a top team on an off night (beating MBA on October 21). The Outlaws will need to pick up points when they can, and hope that the four teams that can still overtake them (in addition to Station Camp, Centennial, Father Ryan, and Indy can still get there) start dropping points. Meanwhile, Summit only need four points to get into the Preds Cup, and it feels like they’re finally coming to life against big opponents. Quite a bit of irony that Jacob Rodrigue will be celebrated as a Summit-Page senior against the team he once played for. He spent his first two season with the Outlaws, playing alongside older brother Daniel, who graduated following the 2022-23 season; Jacob didn’t play in GNASH last season, as his family were in Canada at the time. Also, this is the 90th game of the regular season, meaning we will have only one full quarter (30 games) remaining after tonight.
Pick: Summit
