Last night’s broadcast
Recapping last night’s game
Summit-Page 7 (7-2-1), Tennessee Outlaws 3 (6-4-2)
Conlee Meeks scored the game’s first goal just shy of the halfway point of the first, when he knocked in the puck in a goal-mouth scramble at the left-hand post. With just over 30 seconds left in the period, Brayden Owen shot the puck into the back of the net from the right edge of the slot, and the Spartans carried a 2-0 lead out of the opening frame. Just 37 seconds into the second, Aiden Meyer made it 3-0, when a loose puck came his way, and he shot it through the legs of Outlaws goalie Dawson Reynolds into the bottom corner on the right-hand side of the net. 47 seconds later, Jacob Rodrigue carried the puck to the front of the net, and backhanded it off the left leg pad of Reynolds, who didn’t know where the loose puck was, allowing Liam Garner to reach out, and backhand it under Reynolds and in, increasing Summit’s lead to 4-0. With just over four minutes left in the second, Elijah Freeman got the Outlaws on the board, when he one-timed a Cam Miles centering pass that came from the right-wing corner into the back of the net from right in front. 84 seconds later, the Spartans’ lead went back to four, when Owen received a stretch pass right at the Outlaw blue line, carried it down the left wing, and sent it into the bottom corner of the left-hand side of the net, and Summit left the second up 5-1. Just under 4:30 into the third, Reeve Gabele put Summit up 6-1, when he roofed the puck from right in front. Ten seconds later, the Outlaws took the subsequent faceoff into the Spartans’ zone, and Malakai Hogan got to the front of the net all alone, had one shot stopped by Seth Wagner, then knocked in the rebound for his first GNASH goal. Almost five minutes later, Miles got the Outlaws within 6-3 when he shot the puck into the right-hand side of the net from the right circle. With 45.7 seconds left, Rodrigue got a Senior Night goal, when he came right out in front, and backhanded it into the bottom right-hand corner, bringing the game to its final score. The Spartans are now just two points from a Predators Cup berth, while the Outlaws are just beginning a tough three-game stretch that takes them into the holiday break, still needing three points to get to the big dance themselves. Impressively, this was Dawson Reynolds’s first loss of the season; he was a perfect 5-0-0 coming in. Also, shoutout to Zak Petersen, who played the national anthem on his electric guitar right before opening faceoff. We don’t normally do the anthem before regular season games, but, this was a nice exception.
