Last night’s broadcasts

Recapping last night’s games

The games that were broadcast by MTSN
Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA 6 (5-3-1), Station Camp-Liberty Creek-Nashville Christian 3 (8-2-0)
No goals were scored in the first period. Nearly eight minutes into the third, with the Ice Tigers on the power play, Hudson Honeybone received a pass at the Bison blue line, but it hit his stick, and he lost it between his skates, allowing Dom DeMaria to grab it, carry it down the middle of the ice, right to the front of the Ensworth net, where goalie Reuben Allen went down, allowing DeMaria to move to the right-hand post, and backhand it in for a shorthanded goal. Just over three minutes later, William Towery took a shot from between the center and right points at the Camp blue line, only for it to hit Trex Hooper in the head, pop up into the air, and land in the net behind Bison goalie Carter Gilleece, and it was 1-1 after two. Nearly three minutes into the third, Hooper led a 2-on-1 with Clayton Roach into the Camp zone, and took a shot from just inside the top of the right circle that went through the legs of Gilleece and in. Just over two minutes later, the Bison won a faceoff from in front of their own bench; Merritt Freeman immediately grabbed the puck, skated down the Ensworth left wing right to the right-hand post, and shot it in to tie the game. Just over 1:40 later, Roach gave Ensworth the lead back, when he fired the puck through Gilleece’s legs into the back of the net from the left faceoff dot. Nearly 80 seconds later, Towery carried the puck down the right wing of the Bison’s zone, and passed it across to Hooper at the bottom of the left circle, where he one-timed it in to complete his hat trick. 70 seconds later, the Bison had the net empty, and Freeman received a pass in the Ice Tigers slot, and he fired it into the back of the net to get the Bison back within one, only for Roach and (I think) Henry Oeser to score empty-netters to seal the game for Ensworth. A huge win for the Ice Tigers not just in their pursuit of a Preds Cup berth, but now, they’re just five points behind the Bison for first place in the league. It’s probably too late for them to get back into the GNASH Cup fight, but they might make it very interesting. As for the Bison, this is a tougher loss than the Mt. Juliet game last week simply because the Ice Tigers are a team that they might run into again. And another thing this result does? Makes one wonder just who will be on the outside looking in when the playoff fields are set; the ninth-place finisher might be a Hine Cup terror.

Next game for both teams
Station Camp-Liberty Creek-Nashville Christian: December 17 vs. Brentwood-BA-USN @ 7:10 PM @ Centennial A
Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA: Next Monday vs. Franklin @ 6:30 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp

Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson 5 (6-3-1), Independence-Centennial 3 (3-5-2)
Nearly seven minutes into the first, Landon Croft scored the game’s first goal, when he received a Gideon Drobnick centering pass in the left circle, which he one-timed into the bottom corner on the left-hand side of the Indy net. 6:03 later, Drobnick brought the puck into the Indy zone, and found Croft on the right wing; he passed it to Croft, who fired it between David Busby’s legs into the back of the net, and the Commandos led 2-0 after one. Just over four minutes into the second, Nick Onusaitis blocked a Caleb Carlance attempt to rim the puck around the boards, and it went out to center, where Onusaitis grabbed it, carried it all alone into the Hendersonville zone, and fired it into the back of the net from the slot. 6:11 later, Sullivan Hyatt fired off a centering pass from behind the Indy net in front to Britton Smith, who one-timed it in to make it 3-1 Hendersonville. Just over 80 seconds later, with the Commandos on the power play, Matthew Almeida fired the puck over Busby’s glove into the back of the net from the right edge of the slot, and Hendersonville led 4-1 after two. 5:59 into the third, Harrington Walker made it 4-2, when he shot the puck into the back of the Hendersonville net from the slot. Just over six minutes later, the Eagles got back within a goal, when Bryson Patton took a shot from the left point that Hendersonville goalie Justin Smith saved, only for Nick Claas to get to the rebound, and backhand it in (Indy had an empty net for this goal), but Caden Sisco sealed the game with 23 seconds left with an empty-netter. Rough luck for Indy in this game, as they had two goals waved off: A Walker goal in the first that hit both posts behind Smith and went out the other side, and another in the third that didn’t completely cross the goal line. Also, Aiden Gardner got called for four minor penalties, so, he’ll be suspended for their game against the Rampage next Monday. It’s a big blow to their hopes to get into the Preds Cup, as well. In their last five games, they face (in order) the Rampage, Ensworth, Franklin, Outlaws, and MBA. Two of them are winnable, but they need to pretty much win them all to get into the big show.

Next game for both teams
Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson: Next Monday vs. Montgomery Bell @ 8:15 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
Independence-Centennial: Next Monday vs. Rutherford Rampage @ 6:30 PM @ Centennial A

The night’s other games
Franklin 4, Page-Summit 4 (both now 6-2-2)
Hank Hayes, Michael Mannion, Baker McCormick, and Mykyta Popov scored for the Admirals, while Hudson Halters, Madden Chandler, Hunter Haley, and Liam Garner scored for the Spatriots. This was interesting to follow live from Bellevue; Page had a 3-1 lead after two, only for the Admirals to rattle off three straight, before Garner scored the tying goal with 92 seconds left. Thanks to Station Camp’s loss, I’d say that both teams are still firmly in the GNASH Cup fight.

Next game for both teams
Franklin: Next Monday vs. Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA @ 6:30 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp (this will be their Senior Night game)
Page-Summit: Next Monday vs. Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Lebanon @ 8:15 PM @ Centennial A

Montgomery Bell 8 (6-2-2), Clarksville Kings 0 (3-7-0)
Trace Graham and Matthew Moore each scored twice for the Big Red, with their other goals coming from Archer Reynolds, Cortland Klett, Ethan Sides, and Abe Lasher. The result of the game means that the Kings are out of GNASH Cup contention.

Next game for both teams
Montgomery Bell: Next Monday vs. Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson @ 8:15 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
Clarksville Kings: December 17 vs. Nolensville @ 8:40 PM @ Centennial A

Nolensville 4 (5-3-2), Brentwood-BA-USN 0 (0-9-1)
Carson Ragancik, Jackson Malleus-Mayer, Spencer Kern, and Charlie Bohnert scored for the Knights. The result of the game means that the Bruins will play in the Henry Hine Cup in the postseason for the third straight year.

Next game for both teams
Nolensville: Next Monday vs. Ravenwood @ 7:40 PM @ Centennial B
Brentwood-BA-USN: Next Monday vs. Tennessee Outlaws @ 4:45 PM @ Centennial A

Father Ryan 7 (7-4-0), Rutherford Rampage 0 (1-9-1)
Gage Hart had a hat trick for the Irish, with Sam Halloran scoring twice, and the other goals coming from Michael Jaskoski and Ridgeway Lambert. The result of this game plus the wins for Nolensville and Hendersonville mean that the Rampage will play in the Henry Hine Cup in the postseason. The Irish should be safe and snug inside the Top 8 now, but with Ensworth’s surge potentially continuing, they might want to pick up another couple of points just to be safe. Luckily, their next game, which isn’t until after the holiday break, is very winnable.

Next game for both teams
Father Ryan: January 5 vs. Tennessee Outlaws @ 6:30 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
Rutherford Rampage: Next Monday vs. Independence-Centennial @ 6:30 PM @ Centennial A (this will be their Senior Night game)
