Recapping last night’s games
The games that were broadcast by MTSN
Predators Cup Winners’ Bracket Semifinals
Ensworth-Nolensville-Lipscomb 4, Summit-Page 1
Madden Chandler scored the game’s first goal just over four minutes into the first, when he got all alone in front of the Ensworth net to get a loose puck off of the faceoff, and shot it in. Over eight minutes later, Henry Oeser cleared the puck out of the Ensworth zone, and it came on goal in the Summit end, forcing goalie Brady Tessier to stop it; he went to cover it up, but someone knocked it loose, and Spencer Kern scored to tie the game at 1-1, and that was the score after one. Just past the halfway point of the second, Weston Heringer found Trex Hooper all alone at center and passed him the puck; Hooper went down the Spartans’ slot, and shot the puck in over Tessier’s glove hand, and it was 2-1 Ice Tigers after two. Nearly six minutes into the third, Henry Cravens made it 3-1 on the power play, when he shot the puck into the back of the net from the right circle, thanks to a screen at the left-hand post being provided by…I wanna say it was Hooper. Lucas Tarquine added an empty-netter with 50.5 seconds left. The Ice Tigers are once again one step away from the Preds Cup Final.
Next game for both teams

Summit-Page: Tomorrow vs. Franklin in a Predators Cup Losers’ Bracket Quarterfinal @ 8:30 PM @ Centennial B
Ravenwood 3, Montgomery Bell 1
No goals were scored in the first. Just over four minutes into the second, Liam Powell carried the puck from the red line down the right wing side of the MBA zone, and shot it into the roof of the net from the left-hand side. 47 seconds later, with the Raptors having just gone on the penalty kill, Mason Reed carried the puck down the left wing side of the Big Red zone, and shot it into the back of the net past Hunter Wieck’s blocker, extending his goal-scoring streak to four games. It was 2-0 Raptors after two. With just under six minutes left in the third, Brady Friedman made it 3-0 Raptors, when he took a shot from the right point that clanked off the inside of the post to Wieck’s right and in. Duke D’Alba broke the shutout with 35.5 seconds left, when he took a shot from the left edge of the slot that beat Ravenwood goalie Reese Mackenzie five-hole. The Raptors were merciless on defense, stifling the Big Red’s offense. They didn’t get into double digits for shots on goal until the third. Big news regarding the Raptors: They will be without Cooper Hill for the rest of the playoffs after he suffered a broken thumb in a Jr. Preds game last Friday night. He’s a senior, so, that ends his GNASH career. It’s a damn shame. But his teammates are more than capable of picking up the slack.

Requiem for the Eliminated
Montgomery County Rangers
Departing Seniors: Thomas Freiling, Brayden Kihara, Andy Lietz, Caleb Martin, Owen Roder, Cameron Wells
As I’ve said, I’m very surprised that the Rangers lost all of their games this season because they had quite a few players with GNASH experience (Lietz, Roder, and Wells), as well as some very promising youngsters like Connor Bailey, PJ Burns, Jay Morrow, and Jack Haight. They only had 17 players on the roster this season (16 if you don’t count backup goalie Thomas Redden, who the Rangers picked up from the Outlaws), so, that didn’t help matters. But, they have their own place to practice and build something for the future, and I’m told that they already have a pipeline that goes down to the elementary school level. So, it won’t be too long before the Rangers are leaving the basement and challenging for the penthouse.
Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Green Hill
Departing Seniors: Kaz Cronrath, Andrew Huffine, Bobby Kamos, Carson Slocum
Cronrath is in italics because he was taken from the Outlaws in the goalie pool.
The Bears’ problems began when last season ended. Two of their three goaltenders graduated (Noah Smartt and Brandt Balz). Then the third (Korbin Vickrey, who would’ve been a junior this season) decided to solely focus on playing for the Red River Spartans instead. Then, their leading scorer from last season, Jordan Antar, opted to move to New Jersey to play for the Jr. Titans. As of today, he has two goals and three assists for them, so, he’s getting playing time. Will it be enough for him to not come back next year? We’ll see. Speaking of coming back, if all of the Bears’ juniors return for next season, they will have eight seniors. They’re going to need another goalie if they want that experience to matter (or, hope that Jack Boyett improves during the offseason). Perhaps they have some JV players who are finally ready for the big time. Otherwise, it might be another season in the doldrums for Mt. Juliet in 2025-26.
