Predators Cup Winners’ Bracket Semifinals
Franklin 6, Station Camp-Liberty Creek-Nashville Christian 0
Ryan Mannion opened the scoring with just under two minutes left in the first, when a puck cleared away from the front of the Bison net deflected to him off the stick of Gracie Clark, and he took it to the high slot, and shot it in over the glove hand of Camp goalie Miller Campbell, and it was 1-0 Admirals after one. With 83 seconds left in the second, Chase Wagers carried the puck into the Bison zone from his own end, and fired it into the back of the net from the left circle, and Franklin led 2-0 after two. With just under 8:30 left in regulation, Cole Wright poked the puck out of the Franklin zone on the benches side with one hand, and R. Mannion picked it up at center, carried it into the Bison zone, moved to the left circle, and shot it into the back of the net for his second goal of the game. At this point, Campbell was replaced in goal by Carter Gilleece, Exactly two minutes later, Mykyta Popov moved in on the left-hand side of the Bison net, had a shot stopped by Gilleece, then knocked in the rebound. Nearly three minutes later, with Franklin on the power play, Lucas Ortega got the puck at the right-hand side of the Camp net, and got off a backhander that Gilleece saved, only for Houston Veile to knock in the rebound. With eight seconds left, Franklin were back on the power play, and had a faceoff inside their zone to the right of goalie Teague Spencer; they won it, and Will Clark cleared it out of the zone up the benches side into the Station Camp end, where R. Mannion grabbed it and fired it into the back of the net from the right circle right as time ran out to complete his hat trick. The Admirals will play in the Preds Cup Winners’ Bracket Final for the first time in program history. Even better news for them: Aidan Murphy’s five-game suspension finally ended last night, so, he’ll be back in the lineup in 11 days.
Next game for both teams
Franklin: February 23 vs. Nolensville in the Winners’ Bracket Final @ 6:30 PM @ Centennial B
Station Camp-Liberty Creek-Nashville Christian: Next Wednesday vs. Montgomery Bell in a Losers’ Bracket Quarterfinal @ 8:45 PM @ Centennial A
Nolensville 4, Page-Summit 1
Spencer Kern opened the scoring just shy of four minutes into the game, when he carried the puck from the left-wing boards of the Spartriots zone to the high slot, and shot it into the roof of the net. Nearly two minutes later, something we’ve seen happen in NHL games, but I personally have never witnessed in any hockey game I’ve covered - ice, sled, or roller - took place: Landen Ellis brought the puck into the left-wing side of the Nolensville zone, and got slashed in the right skate by Charlie Bohnert, knocking him down; one of the officials put his arm in the air to signal a delayed penalty. As is protocol, Page goalie Justin Iannuccilli was called to the bench for an extra attacker, leaving the net empty. Conlee Meeks took the puck behind the net, and put it out in front, only for it to go all the way down the ice into the empty net. The goal was initially waved off, but the officials met and determined that no Nolensville stick touched it on its way down, so, it counted, and Bohnert was sent to the box for slashing. Nolensville goalie Bingston Soundara was given credit for the goal. With just under two minutes left in the first, and the Knights on the power play, Jackson Malleus-Mayer shot the puck off the inside of Iannuccilli’s left knee and in from the bottom of the left circle, and Nolensville led 3-0 after one. With just under two minutes left in the second, L. Ellis’s pass down the left wing side of the Nolensville zone was intercepted by Carson Ragancik, who passed it to Kern at center; he brought it into the Page zone, and passed across to Malleus-Mayer, who shot it into the back of the net from the left circle, and the Knights led 4-0 after two. Madden Chandler broke the shutout with 43.8 seconds left, when he scored on a netmouth scramble. So, Nolensville are back in the Winners’ Bracket Final, while another Top 4 seed will fall once the Hendersonville/Page game ends next week.
Next game for both teams

Jayden Charnparnichkarn scored twice for the Bruins, with their other goals coming from Brody Bohman, Charles Sloane, Jack Riley, and Joey Fried, while Aidan Hasse, Connor Bailey, and PJ Burns scored for the Kings, Burns’s goal being the last of his GNASH career. Ethan Rawlings was suspended for last night’s game, as he got a match penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct against Indy on Monday; the length of his suspension is TBD, but he’ll be sitting for a few games at the start of next season.
Next game for Brentwood: February 23 vs. the JPII/Father Ryan loser in a Losers’ Bracket Quarterfinal @ 8:15 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp

Previewing tonight’s game
Henry Hine Cup Winners’ Bracket Semifinal
#4 JPII-MLK-GCS vs. #1 Father Ryan - 8:45 PM @ Antioch-North
How they got here:
-JPII: defeated Mt. Juliet 6-5 on Monday in the first round
-Father Ryan: defeated Rutherford Rampage 4-1 last Thursday in the first round
Regular season meeting: Father Ryan won 4-2 on November 10
I was initially told that some prominent players who play for the Jr. Preds’ U16 AA would be missing this game because they have a travel tournament in Detroit this weekend; I have gotten clarification that they will head to Detroit on Friday, meaning that they will be available tonight. That’s good, because it would absolutely stink for a spot in a semifinal to be determined by who had more players on their bench. Anyway, this will be a tough test for the Irish, as JPII have been very tough to put away for a lot of the Hine Cup-qualified teams that they’ve already faced this season. Who will Father Ryan go with in goal tonight: Jack Karpynec or Zach Fonnesbeck? Also, will Collier Owen be able to play tonight for JPII? He was injured in a collision late in the game on Monday against Mt. Juliet, requiring Ethan Hickerson to finish it. Hickerson gave up one goal for the Bears to get within 6-5, but he locked down the net from there. It would be Hickerson’s first playoff start, and what an occasion it would be for him.
Game prediction: Father Ryan
Consequences of this game’s result: The winner will play the Outlaws/Indy winner in the Winners’ Bracket Final on February 23 @ 6:30 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp, while the loser will play Brentwood in a Losers’ Bracket Quarterfinal on the same date at the same location @ 8:15 PM

Departing Seniors: PJ Burns and Chris Feckner
It was an historic second season for the Rangers/Kings program; they won a game for the first time - three, to be exact. They had their first winning streak, winning back-to-back games at the end of October. A lot to celebrate, but the remaining two-thirds of the regular season plus the playoffs showed that there’s still a lot to work on. It didn’t help that seven of those final ten games were against teams that would eventually qualify for the Predators Cup, and the Kings weren’t near any of those teams’ level, but they seemed to regress a bit from the start of the season, only scoring eight goals in those ten games, and losing to fellow Hine Cup teams in the other three games. The Hasse Bros. (all three of them) were great additions to the team this season; I hope the twins Brock and CJ come back next season. They’ve got a lot of good young players, and will get even stronger, having their own place to put even more work in. I hope that they will have at least 20 players on their roster next season, though. They have a lot of players who can help bring youngers ones along.
JV league playoff bracket
