Predators Cup Winners’ Bracket Final
Ensworth-Nolensville-Lipscomb 6, Ravenwood 4
Just over 2:30 into the first, Henry Oeser opened the scoring, when he deflected a Henry Cravens shot from the blue line while standing in front of Ravenwood’s starting goalie, Colin Gower; Gower saved the tipped shot, but the rebound landed at Oeser’s feet, and he backhanded it through Gower’s legs and in (that was a power play goal, BTW). Just eight seconds later, Oeser caught Gower napping in the crease, and took a shot from just behind the Raptor blue line at the right point, which went into the roof of the net, line drive-style. Just over four minutes later, Jackson Malleus-Mayer grabbed loose puck at the Ravenwood blue line, carried it down the slot, and shot it into the top corner on the left-hand side of the Raptor net. At this point, Gower was replaced by Reese Mackenzie. Ravenwood got on the board with 61 seconds left in the first, when Brady Friedman took a shot from the right circle of the Ensworth zone that went into the right-hand side of the cage. It was 3-1 Ensworth after one. Just over three minutes into the second, Trex Hooper scored on the power play, when he took a shot from the left circle that went off of Mackenzie’s left arm, and into the bottom corner on the left-hand side of the net. 93 seconds later, Hooper made it 5-1, when he crashed the net to bury a rebound. With just under five minutes left in the second, Liam Powell took the puck to the Ensworth net, and took a shot that deflected off of the stick of Ice Tigers goalie Bingston Soundara, and ended up in the bottom left-hand corner. Ensworth had a 5-2 lead after two. Just before the halfway point of the third, Oeser completed his hat trick in an unusual way: Malleus-Mayer attempted a centering pass from the bottom of the right circle that deflected off of a Ravenwood stick, and went across the front of the goal line, Mackenzie having fallen down; the puck hit the bottom of her left foot, allowing Oeser to tap it in. Just over three minutes later, Mason Reed extended his goal-scoring streak to five games, when he fired the puck into the roof of the net from the left circle. 99 seconds later, Keaton Moffitt buried a rebound with Soundara out of the crease and the Ravenwood net empty, bringing the Raptors to within two, but they wouldn’t get any closer. So, Ensworth are now one win away from successfully defending their title.
Next game for both teams

Ravenwood: Monday vs. Montgomery Bell in the Predators Cup Losers’ Bracket Final @ 6 PM @ Centennial A
Predators Cup Losers’ Bracket Semifinal
Montgomery Bell 3, Franklin 0
Just over six minutes into the first, Michael Dattilo took a shot from the right point that stayed low through traffic, and ended up in the bottom left-hand corner of the Franklin net. It was 1-0 MBA after one. With exactly six minutes left in the second, Ethan Moore put a centering pass out in front from the endboards, where it was hammered in from the slot by James Lehrman, who had a goal waved off just over a minute earlier for what I was told was a crease violation against the Big Red, who led 2-0 after two. Andrew Frech added an empty netter with 72 seconds left in the third. So, for the second straight year, it’s Ravenwood and MBA in the Losers’ Final, with the winner facing Ensworth.
Next game for Montgomery Bell: Monday vs. Ravenwood in the Predators Cup Losers’ Bracket Final @ 6 PM @ Centennial A
The night’s other games
Henry Hine Cup Losers’ Bracket Quarterfinals
Centennial-FRA 3, Independence-BA-USN-Nashville Christian 2
Aiden Gardner, Owen Brought, and Nick Claas scored for the Cougars, while Landric Mayeski and Jackson McCoy bowed out from GNASH by scoring for the Eagles. Saw the end of this one; Indy put a lot of pressure on Drew Stratton, who, no shock, stood tall.
Brentwood 5, Rutherford Rampage 1
Callahan Fielder and Zane Cesarone each scored twice for the Bruins, with their other goal coming from Brody Bohman. Eddie Maze scored the Rampage’s lone goal, as their Hine Cup defense ends.
Brentwood and Centennial will play each other in the Henry Hine Cup Losers’ Bracket Semifinal, Monday @ 7:30 PM @ Centennial A.

Requiem for the Eliminated
Franklin
Departing Seniors: Chad Janson, Brodie Marchy, Sheng Morton-Cox, Kasper Thuresson
This Franklin team wasn’t as good as last year’s, but they were still better than two-thirds of the league. They won ten games, one more than they did last year (although, they lost the GNASH Cup regular season championship by one point last year). But they graduated a lot of last year’s offense, and went without Michael Mannion, who sat out this season after shoulder surgery (he should be back next season). Getting to the top was never in the cards for them this season. However, a lot of the kids coming back should mature, and they’ll be back in the thick of things. Finding another goalie should be top of the list, of course.
Independence-BA-USN-Nashville Christian
Departing Seniors: Catcher Greyson, Finn Kallberg, Jonas Martorell, Landric Mayeski, Jackson McCoy, Trent Pavlik, Barrett Teasdale
What next for the Indy program? They’ve had to co-op the last two seasons just to ice a team, and might have to do so again next year, especially with six of the seven seniors being Indy students (Teasdale is a BA student). After winning just one game in the last two seasons, they won five this season. But now, they need two goalies, and are losing two big pieces of their offense in Teasdale and Mayeski. A lot of holes need to be filled if they want to work their way up, but the first step is figuring out who to partner up with.
Rutherford Rampage
Departing Seniors: Cody Jones, Kelvin McClendon, Dylan Welch, Tucker Wilhelm, Josh Wolfe
In early November, the Rampage sat in eighth place, and, for a moment, looked good enough to get into the Preds Cup. Then, they got bashed by the Outlaws, and that started a downslide that culminated in a Hine Cup berth. They looked a decent shot to repeat until the bad loss to Father Ryan last week. Losing the sticks of Wilhelm, Wolfe, and McClendon will sting, but plenty of talent is coming back. Plus, because they’re a supplemental team, they’ll never be short on goalies.
