Predators Cup Losers’ Bracket Final
#3 Montgomery Bell vs. #2 Ravenwood - 6 PM
How they got here
Montgomery Bell:
-Defeated Franklin 4-0 on February 3 in the first round
-Lost 3-1 to Ravenwood on February 10 in a Winners’ Bracket Semifinal
-Defeated Tennessee Outlaws 6-1 on February 12 in a Losers’ Bracket Quarterfinal
-Defeated Franklin 3-0 last Friday in the Losers’ Bracket Semifinal
Ravenwood:
-Defeated Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson 6-0 on February 5 in the first round
-Defeated Montgomery Bell 3-1 on February 10 in a Winners’ Bracket Semifinal
-Lost 6-4 to Ensworth-Nolensville-Lipscomb last Friday in the Winners’ Bracket Final
Previous meetings this season: Ravenwood won both meetings by the exact same score of 3-1 on October 28 and February 10

The scores of their previous meetings this season might be close, but Ravenwood and MBA are kind of far apart in terms of talent. If not for Hunter Wieck, the final margin of those two meetings would’ve been bigger. But all Ravenwood have needed on both occasions was just a couple of moments to get a puck past the Big Red’s superstar in net. In the most recent meeting, the Raptors scored twice in 47 seconds in the second period to win the game: Liam Powell, through sheer force, burst through defenders, and roofed the puck when he got to the left-hand side of the net; then, Mason Reed had plenty of space in the left circle, and shot the puck past Wieck’s blocker. The Raptors spent the entire game smothering what little attack MBA had, except when Duke D’Alba got them on the scoresheet with 35 seconds left in the third, far too late to make Ravenwood nervous. It feels like this game will be more of the same. And what of Trace Graham? He left the game against Franklin on Friday after taking a big hit in the first. Is his season over? It would be a shame for MBA if it is, because they’ll need to be absolutely perfect if they want to win this game, and he is one of their biggest keys. I just don’t see how MBA win this game any other way. For the second straight year, it’s a MBA/Ravenwood Losers’ Final, with Ensworth awaiting the winner for all the marbles.

Pick: Ravenwood

Consequences of this game’s result: Winner will play Ensworth-Nolensville-Lipscomb on Wednesday in the Predators Cup Final, while the loser is eliminated

Henry Hine Cup Losers’ Bracket Semifinal
#5 Brentwood vs. #4 Centennial-FRA - 7:30 PM
How they got here
Brentwood:
-Lost 6-4 to Centennial-FRA on February 5 in the first round
-Defeated Montgomery County Rangers 8-3 on February 10 in the Losers’ Bracket first round
-Defeated Rutherford Rampage 5-1 last Friday in a Losers’ Bracket Quarterfinal
Centennial:
-Defeated Brentwood 6-4 on February 5 in the first round
-Lost 4-3 to Station Camp-Liberty Creek on February 10 in a Winners’ Bracket Semifinal
-Defeated Independence-BA-USN-Nashville Christian 3-2 last Friday in a Losers’ Bracket Quarterfinal
Previous meetings this season: Centennial won both meetings, 5-1 on October 16, and 6-4 on February 5

It’s Sallee vs. Stratton II, but this time, loser leaves town (and if it’s Stratton, it’s for good, unfortunately). After playing in only nine of the Bruins’ 15 regular season games, Callahan Fielder, who finished as their third-leading scorer in the regular season, has stepped up to become their leading scorer in the playoffs. He already has eight goals, one more than he did in the regular season (although, it helps that five of those goals came against the Rangers in Brentwood’s first eliminated game two weeks ago today). On the flip side, Jack Schultz only has one goal so far this postseason, against Centennial. Now, not scoring against the Rangers and Rampage isn’t that big of a deal, since Brentwood didn’t need him to. But against Drew Stratton? Putting a couple in the back of the net would be huge. Centennial’s offensive stats are a little more in line with everyone else on the Bruins not named Callahan Fielder: Nick Claas is the leading scorer, with 5 points (3 G, 2 A), while Brendan Mitchell is the leading goalscorer, with four goals, the same number as Zane Cesarone. But this matchup is all about the netminders. Looking at the box score of the February 5 meeting, the Cougars outscored the Bruins 4-3 in the second period alone. Obviously, the Bruins will need to clean that up if they hope to win tonight. Brentwood vs. Centennial matchups in the playoffs are always fun, regardless of tournament. This one should be no exception.

Pick: Centennial

Consequences of this game’s result: Winner will play Station Camp-Liberty Creek in Wednesday’s Henry Hine Cup Losers’ Bracket Final, while the loser is eliminated
