Last night’s broadcasts
Recapping last night’s games
The games that were broadcast by MTSN
Franklin 5 (8-3-2), Independence-Centennial 1 (4-7-2)
Cole Wright opened the scoring with exactly 4:30 left in the first, when, with the Admirals on the power play, he went to the right-hand side of the Indy net, and deflected a Josh Yurjevich shot from the left point into the left-hand side of the cage, and Franklin led 1-0 after one. With 2.9 seconds left in the second, and the Admirals on the penalty kill, Ryan Mannion took the puck down the left wing of the Eagles’ zone, and took a shot that David Busby saved, only for Yurjevich to crash the net to bang in the rebound, and it was 2-0 after two. With just over five minutes left, Baker McCormick led a 2-on-0 to the Indy net, where he took a backhander that appeared to deflect off of Busby and into the bottom right-hand corner. 29 seconds later, the Eagles scored their only goal, when a Lucas Brown centering pass from behind the net found Caleb Mills in front, and he knocked it in. Ryan Mannion added a shorthanded empty-netter nearly 2:30 later, and Yurjevich scored the game’s final goal 44 seconds later, when he carried the puck across the front of the net, and got Busby to challenge, allowing him to backhand into the bottom right-hand corner of the wide-open net. The result of the game means that Indy will play in the Henry Hine Cup in the postseason.
Next game for both teams
Franklin: Monday vs. JPII-MLK-GCS @ 4:45 PM @ Centennial A
Independence-Centennial: Monday vs. Tennessee Outlaws @ 8:15 PM @ Centennial A (this will be their Senior Night game)
Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson 4 (8-3-2), Nolensville 4 (6-4-3)
Caden Sisco scored the game’s first goal, when he took a shot from the bottom of the right circle in the Nolensville zone that appeared to go in off of Knights goalie Bingston Soundara. Just 71 seconds later, Spencer Kern carried the puck to the front of the Hendersonville net; it was poked off his stick, but came up the slot, where a trailing Emmett Szakos shot the puck over the left shoulder of Commandos netminder Griffen Rumbaugh into the back of the net. Just over six minutes later, Sisco was behind the Nolensville net, when his centering pass attempt was blocked and came back to him, so, he banked it in off of a prone Soundara. 61 seconds later, with the Knights on the power play, Jackson Malleus-Mayer caught up to a loose puck in the left circle, and fired it into the top left-hand corner. Just over four minutes later, Judah Campbell gave Nolensville their first lead of the game, when he took a shot from the top of the right circle that either bounced into the roof of the net on its own or deflected off of the stick of the Hendersonville defender who was backchecking. Either way, Nolensville led 3-2 after one. Nearly two minutes into the second, the Knights found themselves on the power play, and Malleus-Mayer scored a carbon copy of his first goal, and it was 4-2 Nolensville after two. Hendersonville won the faceoff to start the third, and Sisco completed his hat trick, firing it through the legs of Soundara from the high slot just nine seconds into the period. 9:02 later, Nicolas Hofmann scored the game’s final goal, nearly a carbon copy of Sisco’s first. The result of the game means that Nolensville are out of contention for the GNASH Cup regular season championship, and, more importantly, Ravenwood clinch the first Predators Cup berth, something I didn’t realize until after Hofmann’s goal, because Nolensville being knocked out of GNASH Cup contention meant that eight teams are now out, thus, the leaders - in this case, the Raptors - would clinch a Preds Cup berth. I can’t believe I didn’t catch that…but that wasn’t the only scenario I missed. See the Ensworth/Ravenwood recap below.
Next game for both teams
Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson: Monday vs. Rutherford Rampage @ 6:30 PM @ Centennial A
Nolensville: Monday vs. Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA @ 6:30 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
The night’s other games
Page-Summit 3 (8-3-2), Father Ryan 1 (8-5-0)
Brayden Owen, Hunter Haley, and Hudson Halters scored for the Spartriots, while Gage Hart had the Fighting Irish’s lone tally. Page will clinch a Predators Cup berth on Monday if Nolensville don’t beat Ensworth.
Next game for both teams
Page-Summit: Next Wednesday vs. Clarksville Kings @ 7:10 PM @ Centennial A (this will be their Senior Night game)
Father Ryan: Next Wednesday vs. Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Lebanon @ 8:40 PM @ Centennial A (this will be their Senior Night game)
Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA 4 (8-4-1), Ravenwood 1 (9-3-1)
Lucas Tarquine scored twice for the Ice Tigers, with their other goals coming from Trex Hooper and Will Copeland (Hooper scored the first goal just 34 seconds in), while Keaton Moffitt had the Raptors’ lone goal. So, here’s a scenario I didn’t catch: This result means that JPII-MLK-GCS will play in the Henry Hine Cup, as MBA are now in 8th place after tonight; they have 16 points from seven wins and two ties, and while the Knights can match that record, the Big Red own the head-to-head. Also, Station Camp and the Irish each have 16 points from eight wins, so, JPII would lose out to them on the most wins tiebreaker. This result also means that Ravenwood cannot clinch the GNASH Cup on Monday, regardless of the other results.
Next game for both teams
Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA: Monday vs. Nolensville @ 6:30 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
Ravenwood: Monday vs. Brentwood-BA-USN @ 7:40 PM @ Centennial B (this will be their Senior Night game)
