Previewing tonight’s game
Father Ryan (9-5-0) vs. Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson (9-3-2) - 6:45 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
MTSN coverage begins at 6:40 PM BROADCAST LINK
Game notes:
-Father Ryan will clinch a Predators Cup berth with A WIN OR A TIE
-Hendersonville will clinch the 2 seed for the Predators Cup with a WIN
-Hendersonville are having their Senior Night ceremony tonight
-This is the last game of the regular season for both teams
This is a pivotal finale for both teams: The Irish can put away a Predators Cup berth, and not have to watch the Ensworth/JPII and Franklin/Station Camp games (whenever those take place) with their fingers crossed, and Hendersonville can wrap up the Preds Cup 2 seed. If the Commandos lose, they could end up finishing as low as sixth. If the Irish win, they would jump into second, but Page, MBA, and Franklin all winning their one remaining game would push Ryan down to fifth in the final order. It’s been 14 months since these two teams last met, a 6-0 win for Hendersonville on November 11, 2024; if it hadn’t been for Zach Fonnesbeck standing up to the Commandos’ early rushes, it would’ve been a much bigger margin. The Irish have improved greatly since that game, but the Commandos are a better team, as well, and they are on an eight-game unbeaten streak coming into this one. It’s a Friday, so, both teams might be missing some players; I can’t imagine Hendersonville missing too many, since it is their Senior Night, and I wonder if any players who would’ve traveled this weekend have been forced to stay home because of the forecast. I hope we have a good game tonight. I think it will be a game where the Irish will have to score early and do everything they can to stay ahead, because this Hendersonville team has gotten so good these last couple of months. I see the Commandos being the happy team at the final buzzer, though.
Game prediction: Hendersonville
Rare writing after the prediction, but if the Irish lose this game, then Ensworth and Station Camp each winning their one remaining game would push Ryan into the final Hine Cup spot. If the Irish win or tie, then Station Camp would need Ensworth to lose to JPII, then the Bison would only need a tie to leapfrog them, and take the final Preds Cup berth. If the Irish lose, they would still get a Preds Cup berth should either Ensworth or Station Camp fail to win (as in, LOSE OR TIE) their remaining game.
