MTSN GNASH Newsletter for January 27, 2025
No broadcast tonight.
Senior Night ceremonies
Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson, JPII-MLK, and Ravenwood are having their Senior Night ceremonies tonight.
Regular season finales
Centennial-FRA, Franklin, Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson, Independence-BA-USN-Nashville Christian, and the Rutherford Rampage are all playing their regular season finales tonight.
Scenarios for tonight
Predators Cup seeding scenarios
Ravenwood will clinch the 2 seed for the Predators Cup if they DEFEAT OR TIE WITH Independence-BA-USN-Nashville Christian, AND Summit-Page LOSE TO OR TIE WITH JPII-MLK.
Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson will clinch the 3 seed for the Predators Cup if they DEFEAT the Rutherford Rampage, AND JPII-MLK, Montgomery Bell, AND Summit-Page ALL LOSE their games tonight.
Henry Hine Cup seeding scenarios
Previewing tonight’s games
Centennial-FRA (5-9-0) vs. Franklin (9-5-0) - 4:30 PM @ Centennial A
Centennial can still get as high as the 2 seed for the Hine Cup, while the Admirals can still get as high as the 4 for the Predators Cup, but those hopes will likely be snuffed out by Hendersonville likely beating the Rampage. I expect David Busby to get his final start in goal this season before the Cougars turn to Drew Stratton for the Hine Cup.
Pick: Franklin
Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Green Hill (1-10-2) vs. Montgomery Bell (8-3-2) - 6:15 PM @ Centennial A
The Bears have wrapped up the 7 seed for the Hine Cup, while the Big Red can actually still claim the Preds Cup 2 seed. I can’t see the latter happening, but MBA should have no problem winning this game.
Pick: MBA
Ravenwood (10-2-1) vs. Independence-BA-USN-Nashville Christian (4-9-1) - 7:40 PM @ Centennial B
So, the GNASH Cup regular season championship and Preds Cup 1 seed are now in the possession of Ensworth after they beat the Raptors two weeks ago tonight. Ravenwood can (and will likely) get the 2 seed as consolation. The Eagles are coming off of a big win over the Rangers in their last game on January 15, but this game could be a repeat of their loss to Brentwood, which also took place two weeks ago tonight.
Pick: Ravenwood
JPII-MLK (10-4-0) vs. Summit-Page (8-3-1) - 8 PM @ Centennial A
Both of these teams can also still get the 2 seed for the Preds Cup. The Spartans have the better chance of the two because they’re playing three games this week, and have a decent chance at winning all of them, whereas this is the Knights’ last game of the regular season. This is also JPII’s Senior Night, and both of their goalies are seniors, so, I’m wondering how they’ll play that in regards to ice time.
Pick: Summit
Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson (9-4-1) vs. Rutherford Rampage (5-9-0) - 8:30 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
So, the Commandos can get the 3 seed for the Predators Cup. Their chances of a Top 4 seed are very good. The Rampage can still get the Hine Cup 2 seed. If only they had an easier opponent for tonight.
Pick: Hendersonville
