Senior Night ceremony

JPII-MLK-GCS are having their Senior Night ceremony tonight.

No scenarios tonight. All four teams playing have been eliminated from contention for the GNASH Cup regular season championship, and three of them are confirmed for a place in the Henry Hine Cup. JPII-MLK-GCS could still qualify for the Predators Cup even with a loss tonight.

Previewing tonight’s games

Both games will be played @ Centennial A.

Brentwood-BA-USN (1-9-2) vs. Clarksville Kings (3-10-0) - 7:10 PM
Both teams are heading for the Hine Cup, and neither one can get the 1 seed because they don’t have enough points left on the table to catch current 9th place holders Nolensville, so, this is all about getting as many points as possible to climb higher for a better seed. The Bruins are taking the ice for the first time since collecting their first win of the season over Station Camp three weeks ago tonight, and they’re on a two-game unbeaten streak, because that win was preceded by the tie with the Outlaws two nights earlier. They have two games left after tonight: Against Ravenwood next Monday, and then the Rampage on January 26. Meanwhile, this is the Kings’ penultimate game of the regular season, as they wrap up the regular season (they’ll be the first team to do so, by the way) next Wednesday against Page. This is their last good chance (on paper) to pick up some points, and, they’re on an eight-game losing streak that they’ll be desperate to break tonight. As always when it comes to a Wednesday night game with Clarksville, will the Hasse twins be present for this one? I actually think that even without them, they’re still deeper than Brentwood, but the Bruins win the goaltending matchup. If you’re a Rampage fan, you need to root for Clarksville, because if Brentwood win, that means that the Rampage would end up with the Hine Cup 8 seed with a loss to Hendersonville next Monday. On the flip side, a Kings win would potentially trap Brentwood in the Bottom 4 places for the Hine Cup, and would trap them down there if they then lose to Ravenwood next week. We’ll see.

Game prediction: Clarksville

JPII-MLK-GCS (4-5-2) vs. Tennessee Outlaws (3-7-2) - 8:40 PM
The Knights will win the (nonexistent) award for Shortest Senior Night Ceremony of the Season, as they only have one senior to honor, Ian Sullivan. They’re on a three-game winning streak coming into tonight, and this is their last game of the season against a team on their level, as they have a tough closing stretch coming up against Franklin, Nolensville, and Ensworth. A win tonight would make the race for the last Predators Cup spot a bit more interesting, as they would close to within three points of current 8th place holders Ensworth, but I don’t see them winning out to get in. Meanwhile, once play ended on Monday, a spot in the Hine Cup for the Outlaws was confirmed. They can actually still get as high as the 2 seed. The final game of the regular season (against Page) is unfavorable for them, but their next game is against an Indy team that’s been wildly inconsistent this season, so, there’s still a decent chance for another two-point pickup before they reach the finish line. Both of these teams have a good starting goalie (Collier Owen and Dawson Reynolds), but the Knights’ offense is more spread out than the Outlaws, as JPII have five players in double figures in points, while Josh Kuehn is the runaway leader for the Outlaws with 25 points, 12 more than second-leading scorer Clive Keeler. This should be a pretty good game, but I think that the Knights will prevail here. I should note that Monday marked 11 months since their meeting in the first elimination game of the 2025 Preds Cup, which the 8 seeded Outlaws famously won 5-4 over the 5 seeded Knights.
