Recapping last night’s game
Henry Hine Cup Final If Necessary Game
Father Ryan 7, Station Camp-Liberty Creek 5
Hudson Laux scored the game’s first goal just 23 seconds shy of the halfway point of the first period, when he shot the puck into the roof of the Station Camp net from the high slot. Nearly six minutes later, the Irish won a faceoff in the Bison’s zone, and Laux took a shot from the top of the left circle that hit off the inside of the post to the right of Camp goalie Carter Gilleece and went in. 42 seconds later, Danny Libby misplayed the puck at center, allowing Joey Siciliano to grab it, carry it down the right wing, and fire it into the bottom corner of the right-hand side of the Father Ryan net, putting the Bison on the board, and the Irish led 2-1 after one. 65 seconds into the second, Brendan Malloy took a shot from the center point that went off of a Station Camp skate blade, and came to Colin Sullivan at the bottom of the right circle, where he immediately passed across to Sam Halloran, who was standing at the right post, and knocked it in. Nearly four minutes later, Halloran scored again, when he shot the puck into the back of the net from the left circle. Nearly 3:30 after that, Sullivan scored, when he approached the right hand side of the net, and took a low shot into the back of it. With 31 seconds left in the second, and the Bison about to go on the power play, McClain Gregory took a shot from the left circle of the Irish zone, which was stopped by Ryan goalie Jack Karpynec, with the rebound coming to Dom DeMaria in the slot, where he shot it into the roof of the net to cancel out the penalty, but bring the Bison within three goals, as it was 5-2 Father Ryan going into the ice cut break. Just over 3:30 into the third, a netmouth scramble in the Bison crease saw Gilleece down on his stomach, allowing Gage Hart to come in, and lift the puck over him and in. It felt like the game was over at that point, but the Irish got complacent. Just past the halfway point of the third, with Station Camp on the power play, the puck came to Gregory in the right edge of the slot, and he shot it into the left-hand side of the net. 39 seconds later, Jadon Robertson went on a breakaway, and knocked in his own rebound after Karpynec stopped his first shot. Exactly two minutes later, Ryan went back up by three, when Parker Causey punched in the rebound of a saved Thomas McTasney shot. 57 seconds later, Marshall McMurtry scored the game’s - and the postseason’s - final goal, when he carried the puck down the left wing, and shot it into the back of the net. The Irish held on from there to win their first Henry Hine Cup. Hudson Laux was named the Sandi Chadwick MVP. Father Ryan become the sixth team in GNASH history to have won the Predators and Hine Cups, joining Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central, Pope John Paul II, Ravenwood, Montgomery Bell, and Centennial. Those five teams have all also won the GNASH Cup, which the Irish have not won. Father Ryan winning the Hine Cup also means that there are no former Predators Cup winners who have not won any other GNASH trophy; until last night, the Irish were the only team in the league with that distinction.
Crazy stat: Not a single game in the entire 2025 GNASH postseason went to a shootout, and not a single Hine Cup game went to overtime. Just three 2025 GNASH postseason games went to overtime, and they were all in the Predators Cup.

Celebrating the Champions
Father Ryan
Departing Seniors: Parker Causey, Chapman Smith, Colin Sullivan
The Irish were probably the youngest team in the league this season, with ten freshmen, five sophomores (six when Hudson Laux came over in December), two juniors, and three seniors. And a lot of the time, they played like it. They took a shock tie with MBA early in the season, and only lost 2-0 to Ensworth in a game where the Ice Tigers didn’t score until the third period, but they also lost 6-0 to Hendersonville, and 7-1 to Summit. To be honest, Jack Karpynec probably kept them from getting whipped a lot more than they actually did (Karpynec usurping Zach Fonnesbeck as the Irish’s #1 starter is not something I envisioned happening this season). Of the ten freshmen, Gage Hart and Danny Libby stood out (especially Hart). The rest still need some more development, which is why I don’t see the Irish challenging for the top of GNASH for at least another two seasons (2026-27). I think they’ll get back in the Predators Cup next season, but as a low-end seed. They’ll still be too young next year. This Hine Cup could be the planting seed of a great era for Father Ryan, much as it was for MBA when they won the Hine Cup in 2013; eventually, the Big Red would win five GNASH Cups and a Preds Cup to go along with it? Are Father Ryan headed in that direction? We’ll see.
Requiem for the Runners-Up
Station Camp-Liberty Creek
Departing Seniors: Mason Campbell, Keaton Howard, Dylan Karandjeff, Aiden Kramer, Mac Miles, Jadon Robertson, Joey Siciliano
The Bison missed out on a Preds Cup spot on goal difference. How much noise they could’ve made in that tournament, we’ll never know. We’ll also never know if Miller Campbell’s season-ending ACL tear factored into them not winning the Hine Cup. Robertson and Siciliano are big losses on offense, but they’re bringing back a HUGE wealth of talent next season. Keith Grooms did a great job in his first year as head coach to help move some development along, and I don’t think it’s slowing down. The Bison beat MBA, only lost 2-1 to Ensworth, and 4-1 to Ravenwood, and went on a five-game winning streak towards the end of the regular season, sparked by the incredible come-from-behind win against the Rampage. They should be very proud.
