Previewing tonight’s games

The games that will be broadcast by MTSN are in BOLD.

Independence-Centennial (2-3-1) vs. Station Camp-Liberty Creek-Nashville Christian (5-0-0) - 4:45 PM @ Centennial A
I would not be surprised if Indy were the ones to end the Bison’s perfect start to the season. They’re on a three-game winless streak, but it feels like a big surprise result is around the corner. The Bison were kind of lucky to keep the perfect season going last week, taking on a Nolensville without Bingston Soundara. If he’d been in goal, and that 2-0 start 3:13 in still happened, that would’ve 99.9% been the game decided right there. Could David Busby (if he’s back in goal for Indy tonight) frustrate them to the point that the Eagles steal the win? It could happen. If the Bison win this game, they will match the number of games they won for the entirety of the 2024-25 regular season.

Game prediction: Station Camp

Montgomery Bell (3-2-1) vs. Rutherford Rampage (1-4-1) - 6:30 PM @ Centennial A
This will probably go the same way that the Rampage’s loss to Ravenwood went last week, and honestly, that’s all I have to say about this one.

Game prediction: MBA

Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA (2-2-0) vs. Page-Summit (3-2-1) - 6:30 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
The Ice Tigers emphatically snapped their two-game losing streak last week with a comfortable win over the Outlaws. Meanwhile, the Spartriots used a three-goal third period to pick up a come-from-behind win against Hendersonville. I broadcast that game, and during the break between the second and third periods, head coach Greg Sauers expressed his displeasure with how not-so-great they’d been playing for the first two frames (Hendersonville outshot them 25-9 through the first two frames), and the players responded by doubling their shot total on their way to victory. While I think that they have better goaltending than Ensworth, they absolutely cannot be lackadaisical against the Ice Tigers, who have plenty of players who can burn them. Aiden Garner is suspended for tonight’s game for a holding the facemask major against Hendersonville last week.

Game prediction: Page

Franklin (3-2-1) vs. Tennessee Outlaws (2-3-1) - 7:40 PM @ Centennial B
The Admirals got a big win over Father Ryan last week. Now, they begin a gauntlet of the supplemental teams, taking on the Outlaws tonight, the Kings next Wednesday the 19th, then the Rampage on December 1. They should win all three of these games, honestly, and win them comfortably. But they’ve especially been waiting for this game because Michael Mannion’s six-game suspension finally expires after tonight.

Game prediction: Franklin

Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson (3-3-0) vs. Brentwood-BA-USN (0-4-1) - 8:15 PM @ Centennial A
If Brentwood still had the Schultz/Cesarone/C. Fielder line from last season, I would think that this game would be close. But, like last week against MBA, the only way Brentwood will steal this one is if Andrew Sallee shuts out the Commandos, and the Bruins convert at least one of the few chances that they are going to get. In case you were wondering, it’s still weird to talk about Brentwood in this manner.

Game prediction: Hendersonville

Father Ryan (4-2-0) vs. JPII-MLK-GCS (1-3-1) - 8:15 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
So, the Irish had their three-game winning streak cut down by Franklin last week. Looking at the GameSheet, they were outshot by the Admirals 27-18, but only allowed both of their goals in the second period. Now, they face a JPII team fresh off of collecting its first win of the season last Wednesday against the Kings. These two teams have similar roster sizes, and, I’d argue, their depth isn’t very far apart. The Knights, though, don’t have a player like Hudson Laux, who’s good at setting up scoring plays. I’d say that he probably makes the difference here. Brendan Malloy is serving the first of a three-game suspension for an incident at the end of the game against Franklin last week that got him an unsportsmanlike conduct major (I’m not sure what the incident was).

Game prediction: Father Ryan
