Recapping last night’s games
The game that was broadcast by MTSN
Ravenwood 9 (7-0-1), Father Ryan 5 (5-3-0)
Deep breath in…here we go. Jake Farrell opened the scoring just 45 seconds in, when he was going behind the Father Ryan net, and banked an attempted centering pass to (I think) Lucas Voyles off the back of Irish goalie Zach Fonnesbeck and in. Nearly 10:30 later, a clearing attempt from the Irish zone hit the bleachers-side boards at center; Gage Hart jumped on his horse, grabbed the puck, carried it down the Ravenwood slot, and fired it into the bottom corner on the right-hand side of the net. 46 seconds later, Ravenwood took the lead back, when they won a faceoff in their zone, and pushed the puck out to center. Grady Fernan and Keaton Moffitt pursued it, with Moffitt pushing it to the front of the Father Ryan net, where Fernan perfectly connected with it, and slipped it past a stretched-out Fonnesbeck to make it 2-1. The Raptors then won the subsequent faceoff, and Moffitt found Fernan all alone in the Irish right circle, and Fernan shot the puck into the top right-hand corner of the Ryan net just seven seconds after his first goal, and it was 3-1 Ravenwood after one. 84 seconds into the second period, the Irish were on the power play; Curtis Newman sent the puck to the net from the right half-wall; Reese Mackenzie made the save, but the rebound came right to Ridgeway Lambert standing a few feet away, and he buried it to bring the Irish within one. But the game fell apart for them after this goal. 81 seconds later, Moffitt found Lucas Voyles all alone at the bottom of the Ryan left circle; he fed Voyles the puck, and Voyles hammered a one-time through Fonnesbeck’s legs into the bottom left corner of the net. 64 seconds after that, and with Ravenwood on the power play (Gage Hart was sent to the box for goalie interference; for some reason, the GameSheet said Mackenzie had been called for interference), Brady Friedman took a shot that Fonnesbeck saved, only for Moffitt to be right in front for the rebound; he backhanded it off the underside of the crossbar, then took two bounces before settling into the bottom left corner. Nearly 3:30 later, Voyles took a shot in the slot that was blocked, then carried the puck into the right circle, where he took another shot that rolled up Fonnesbeck’s left shoulder and in. 3:10 later, with the Raptors on another power play, Oliver Lutz made it 7-2, when he shot the puck into a wide-open net with Fonnesbeck out of position. Fonnesbeck was then given the hook for Jack Karpynec. Father Ryan then won the subsequent faceoff, and Lambert scored his second goal of the game, taking a shot from the right circle that went off Mackenzie’s glove and in; this was just eight seconds after Lutz’s goal. With 1:59 to go in the second, Moffitt scored his second of the game, when he took a backhanded shot that appeared to go off the stick of Thomas McTasney (who was blocking the goal with his stick because Karpynec was out of position) and into the roof of the net. Ryan then won the subsequent faceoff, and Hart scored his second just five seconds later, lasering the puck into the top left-hand corner from the left circle. Farrell then scored Ravenwood’s last (somehow) goal of the game with just 28 seconds left in the period, when Moffitt found him all alone in front, and fed him the puck from near the left-hand side of the Irish net, where Farrell redirected it into a wide-open net, and Ravenwood led 9-4 after a second period that took HALF AN HOUR TO PLAY because of all the stoppages. Newman scored the game’s (again, somehow) final goal just over three minutes into the third, and with the Irish on the power play, when he took a shot from the top of the right circle that hit the top left-hand corner. Keaton Moffitt had one of the great single-game performances in GNASH history, with EIGHT POINTS FROM TWO GOALS AND SIX ASSISTS! Like I said in yesterday’s letter, Ravenwood didn’t officially clinch a Preds Cup berth last night, but a seven-win team isn’t getting knocked out.
Next game for both teams
Ravenwood: December 1 vs. Independence-Centennial @ 7:40 PM @ Centennial B
Father Ryan: Next Monday vs. Clarksville Kings @ 7:40 PM @ Centennial A
The night’s other games
Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Lebanon 4 (2-7-0), Brentwood-BA-USN 2 (0-6-1)
Cade Ellenburg scored twice for the Bears, with Ethan Smith and Reid Spencer scoring their other two goals, while Brody Wales and Joey Fried scored the Bruins’ goals. That’s three goals in just two games for Ellenburg, who looks to be the offensive spark MJ have needed. Meanwhile, Brentwood remain winless, and they only have four more (somewhat) decent shots at collecting a victory this season: JPII, the Outlaws, Clarksville, and the Rampage. I should note that MJ staved off elimination from the GNASH Cup race with this win, but one more loss or tie or Ravenwood win, and their string gets cut, anyway.
Next game for both teams
Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Lebanon: December 1 vs. Station Camp-Liberty Creek-Nashville Christian @ 6:30 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
Brentwood-BA-USN: December 1 vs. Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA @ 4:45 PM @ Centennial A
Station Camp-Liberty Creek-Nashville Christian 6 (7-0-0), Tennessee Outlaws 3 (2-5-1)
Tobyn Mehaffy had a hat trick for the Bison, with their other goals coming from McClain Gregory, Merritt Freeman, and Dom DeMaria. Josh Kuehn, Clive Keeler, and Malakai Hogan scored for the Outlaws. Actually watched a bit of this one after I got to Centennial. The game was tied 1-1 after one; the Outlaws got a power play early in the second, and gave up not one but two shorthanded tallies to Camp 25 seconds apart. They actually tied the game in the second, and it was 3-3 going into the third, where the Bison won the game. Like Ravenwood, you can write Station Camp into the Preds Cup field in quill ink.

Tennessee Outlaws: December 3 vs. Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson @ 8:40 PM @ Centennial A
Montgomery Bell 3, Nolensville 3 (both now 4-2-2)
Charlie Bohnert scored twice for the Knights, with Thomas Renegar scoring their other goal. Meanwhile, Abe Lasher, Trace Graham, and James Lehrman scored for the Big Red, with Lehrman’s tally coming with 38 seconds left in the game to tie it.

Page-Summit 9 (5-2-1), Rutherford Rampage 5 (1-6-1)
Madden Chandler had a hat trick for the Spartriots, with their other goals coming from Hudson Halters, Conlee Meeks, Liam Garner, Aiden Meyer, Ayden Mills, and Hunter Haley. Meanwhile, Brandon Schulenberg scored twice for the Rampage, with their other goals coming from Myles Thompson, Cooper Feasel, and Lucas Bardo.
Next game for both teams
Page-Summit: December 1 vs. Nolensville @ 6:30 PM @ Centennial A
Rutherford Rampage: December 1 vs. Franklin @ 8:15 PM @ Centennial A
Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson 6 (4-3-1), Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA 6 (2-3-1)
Nicolas Hofmann and Landon Croft each scored twice for the Commandos, with their other two goals coming from Caden Sisco and Caleb Carlance. Meanwhile, Trex Hooper and Jax Dooner each scored twice for the Ice Tigers, with their other two goals coming from Clayton Roach and Sam Melnikov. Will their be a crazier game this season? Ensworth led 4-1 after one, then scored two more goals 27 seconds apart within the first two minutes of the second. Hendersonville came all the way back to get a tie! And Croft scored the game’s final goal 34 seconds shy of the halfway point of the third, meaning that somehow, neither team found a game-winning tally in the last seven-and-a-half minutes of it. Bellevue got the good games last night.
Next game for both teams
Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson: December 3 vs. Tennessee Outlaws @ 8:40 PM @ Centennial A
Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA: December 1 vs. Brentwood-BA-USN @ 4:45 PM @ Centennial A
