MTSN GNASH Newsletter for November 20, 2024
Tonight’s broadcast
JPII-MLK vs. Ensworth-Nolensville-Lipscomb - 7:05 PM pregame, 7:10 PM faceoff BROADCAST LINK
Scenarios for tonight
Ensworth-Nolensville-Lipscomb will clinch a Predators Cup berth (and eliminate Centennial-FRA from contention for the GNASH Cup regular season championship) if they DEFEAT OR TIE WITH JPII-MLK.
Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Green Hill will take a place in the Henry Hine Cup if they LOSE TO OR TIE WITH Brentwood.
Previewing tonight’s games
All games are being played @ Centennial. The game that MTSN will broadcast is in BOLD.
JPII-MLK (6-2-0) vs. Ensworth-Nolensville-Lipscomb (9-0-2) - 7:10 PM on Rink A
For all the talk of rescheduling games recently, it should be noted that this game was supposed to have been played way back on September 26 (considering that after tonight, we’ll have played 80 out of the scheduled 120 games in the regular season, September 26 in GNASH terms seems like a lifetime ago), but was moved due to both teams being concerned about not having enough players available due to travel hockey. Anyway, here’s Ensworth’s third crack at trying to clinch a Predators Cup berth; the good news is, a tie will get it done this time. The last two games have shown how much the Ice Tigers lack a pure goal scorer; they must be very frustrated seeing Brentwood get five goals past the Outlaws, when they could only get one. Then on Monday, Hunter Wieck stonewalled them again for the second straight regular season. In terms of offensive depth, I think that JPII are similar to the Big Red: Clayton Roach is similar to Matthew Moore in being a guy you simply don’t want hanging out near the front of the net all alone. Obviously, MBA have the better goaltending, and that’s where I think the Ice Tigers have the advantage, too.
Pick: Ensworth
Independence-BA-USN-Nashville Christian (1-6-1) vs. Rutherford Rampage (4-7-0) - 8:30 PM on Rink B
The Rampage return to the ice 48 hours after watching Station Camp score four unanswered in the third on Monday night to beat them 5-4, and take on an Indy team that will want to pull off a shocker themselves. The Eagles are still without Barrett Teasdale, who is serving the sixth of his seven-game suspension for receiving a head contact match penalty against Summit-Page on September 30 (had Indy’s game against Station Camp last Friday not been rescheduled to next month, he would’ve finally fulfilled it tonight). I think the Rampage bounce back.
Pick: Rutherford
Brentwood (3-7-1) vs. Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Green Hill (0-8-2) - 8:45 PM on Rink A
The Bruins’ attempted comeback against the Outlaws on Monday felt like one last lunge at the final Predators Cup berth; it looks like they’ll miss out on the tournament for the second straight year. I wonder who they’ll put in goal tonight? Do they put Collier Owen in goal and stick with him, or do they put in Andrew Sallee, because they don’t want to be the first team this season to lose to Mt. Juliet? I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the latter case.
Pick: Brentwood
