Last night’s broadcasts
Recapping last night’s games
The games that were broadcast by MTSN
Ravenwood 8 (6-1-0), JPII-MLK 4 (5-2-0)
The Knights jumped out to a 2-0 lead nearly four minutes into the game, when Oscar Ford scored twice in the span of 26 seconds. First, he grabbed a loose puck from the right-wing boards, carried to the right edge of the slot, and fired it into the back of the Ravenwood net; then, he tipped in a shot from little brother Hugo that came from the left point. The Raptors got on the board with 22 seconds left in the first, when Canon Kiser took a shot from the slot that hit the left-hand post of the JPII net, then appeared to go in off of Knights goaltender Matthew Simmons. It was 2-1 after one. Just past the halfway point of the second, Keaton Moffitt received a pass while all alone in the bottom of the left circle; he then moved across the front of the JPII net, and backhanded the puck in. 55 seconds later, he scored again, this time finding the right-hand side of the net from the right circle. JPII then won the subsequent faceoff, and Joe Hiller fired the puck into the roof of the net. 50 seconds later, the Raptors regained the lead for good, when Cooper Hill took a soft backhanded shot that Simmons stopped, only for it to leak behind him, allowing Mason Reed to tuck it into the open net for his first GNASH goal. With 38 seconds left in the second, Grady Fernan fired the puck into the back of the net from the top of the left circle, and the period ended with Ravenwood up 5-3. Nearly two minutes into the third, Jake Farrell fired the puck into the back of the Knights’ net from near the left-hand post. 2:30 later, Kiser scored his second of the game, ripping in a one-timer from the left circle. 37 seconds later, Cooper Friedman backhanded a rebound from a saved Anthony Maltese shot into the roof of the JPII net, and at this point, Simmons was replaced by Jacob Benoit. With just under two minutes left, Hiller scored the game’s final goal, when he buried the rebound from a saved Oscar Ford shot, with the JPII players on the ice having a VERY muted celebration.
Next game for both teams
Ravenwood: November 18 vs. Franklin @ 7:40 PM @ Centennial B
JPII-MLK: November 13 vs. Brentwood @ 8:30 PM @ Centennial B
Ensworth-Nolensville-Lipscomb 3 (7-0-0), Franklin 0 (6-2-0)
Trex Hooper scored the game-winning goal nearly six minutes into the first, when he buried the rebound of a saved Spencer Kern shot. 66 seconds later, Charlie Bohnert hammered in a no-look backhanded centering pass from Jackson Malleus-Mayer, and it was 2-0 Ensworth after one. With just over two minutes left in the second, Logan Campbell scored the game’s final goal on the power play, when he knocked in a backdoor feed from Beckett Adams. Ensworth surpass Hendersonville to go to the top of GNASH. They might stay there a while.
Next game for both teams
Ensworth-Nolensville-Lipscomb: Tomorrow vs. Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson @ 8:30 PM @ Centennial B
Franklin: Next Monday vs. Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Green Hill @ 8:30 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp (This will be Franklin’s Senior Night Game.)
The night’s other games
Centennial-FRA 5 (3-4-0), Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Green Hill 3 (0-7-2)
Nick Claas had a hat trick for the Cougars, with Brendan Mitchell scoring their other two goals. Carter Spencer, Shaurya Arora, and Bobby Kamos scored for the Golden Bears. This result, plus Ensworth’s win over Franklin, means that MJ are officially out of the race for the GNASH Cup regular season championship. This doesn’t doom them to the Hine Cup yet, but they only have six games left, and are still searching for win number one on the season. They still have to play Franklin, Father Ryan, and MBA, so, it’s inevitable that they will end up in the B tournament.
Next game for both teams
Centennial-FRA: Next Monday vs. Montgomery Bell @ 7:40 PM @ Centennial B
Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Green Hill: Next Monday vs. Franklin @ 8:30 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
Montgomery Bell 9 (5-2-1), Brentwood 0 (2-4-1)
Ethan Sides scored twice for the Big Red, with their other goals coming from Matthew Moore, Ethan Moore, Trace Graham, Michael Dattilo, Cortland Klett, Fritz Moorman, and Benjamin Eadie (his first GNASH goal). Brentwood have now lost 9-0 for the second time this season (the other time, of course, being to Ravenwood); and their record of 2-4-1 is the exact same record they had after seven games last season. Of course, in that case, it meant they were relegated to Tier 2 for the second half of the regular season, and forced to play in the Hine Cup in the postseason.
Next game for both teams
Montgomery Bell: Next Monday vs. Centennial-FRA @ 7:40 PM @ Centennial B
Brentwood: Thursday vs. Rutherford Rampage @ 8:30 PM @ Antioch-North
