Last night’s broadcast
Recapping last night’s games
The game that was broadcast by MTSN
Father Ryan 2 (0-2-1), Montgomery Bell 2 (1-0-1)
Ethan Sides scored the first goal of the game on the power play just 1:41 in, when he fired the puck into the back of the Irish net from the left circle. The 1-0 lead held up through the end of the first. Just 32 seconds into the second period, Gage Hart scored on a breakaway when the puck broke free, and he shot it in off the inside of the left-hand post of the MBA net. Just 74 seconds later, the Big Red took the lead back when Michael Dattilo took a shot from the right point that seem to take a slight deflection off of a Father Ryan stick in the slot, and tuck itself into the bottom corner on the right-hand side of the cage. It remained 2-1 MBA after two. Just one second shy of six full minutes into the third, Danny Libby scored his first GNASH goal when he carried the puck out from behind his own net into the right wing side of the MBA zone, and shot it into the roof of the net, not once having been challenged by any back checking. Both teams held on from there. In a way, MBA got away with a tie. They didn’t seem to push very hard when they had the puck, but give Father Ryan credit; they were clogging up shooting lanes, sticking with their man, and blocking shots. I still don’t see them being a Predators Cup team, though. Maybe a higher-up Hine Cup squad.
Next game for both teams
Father Ryan: October 10 vs. Tennessee Outlaws @ 8:30 PM @ Antioch-North
Montgomery Bell: Next Monday vs. Independence-BA-USN-Nashville Christian @ 7 PM @ Centennial B
The night’s other games
Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson 4 (2-1-1), Centennial-FRA 1 (1-2-0)
Gideon Drobnick scored twice for the Commandos, with the other goals coming from Carter Morrison and Landon Croft. Nick Claas scored the Cougars’ only goal in the third. David Busby played in goal for Centennial. I’m not sure how much of a difference that made, because Centennial were outshot 42-10. Yeesh.
Next game for both teams
Hendersonville-Beech-Gallatin: Tomorrow vs. Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Green Hill @ 8:30 PM @ Centennial B
Centennial-FRA: October 16 vs. Brentwood @ 8:40 PM @ Centennial A
Ravenwood 10 (2-0-0), Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Green Hill 0 (0-3-1)
Cooper Hill, Liam Powell, and Canon Kiser each scored twice for the Raptors, with the other goals coming from Robert Longard, Jake Lapinsky, Anthony Maltese, and Grady Fernan potting the other four. Reese MacKenzie posts a seven-save shutout (yes, the Bears only managed seven shots!) in her first-ever GNASH start. I don’t see anyone beating the Raptors this season.
Next game for both teams
Ravenwood: Thursday vs. Rutherford Rampage @ 8:30 PM @ Antioch-North
Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Green Hill: Tomorrow vs. Hendersonville-Beech-Gallatin @ 8:30 PM @ Centennial B
Summit-Page 7 (3-0-0), Independence-BA-USN-Nashville Christian 2 (0-3-0)
Hunter Haley scored twice, with the Spartans’ other goals coming from Landen Ellis, Aiden Meyer, Aiden Garner, Ryan Ellis, and Reeve Gabele. Barrett Teasdale and Joey Fried scored for the Eagles.
Next game for both teams
Summit-Page: October 16 vs. Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson @ 7:10 PM @ Centennial A
Independence-BA-USN-Nashville Christian: Tomorrow vs. JPII-MLK @ 7:10 PM @ Centennial A
Franklin 11 (4-0-0), Montgomery County Rangers 2 (0-4-0)
Ryan Mannion had a hat trick for the second straight game to lead the Admirals, with Aidan Murphy and David Unger each scoring twice. The other four goals for Franklin came from Wyatt Gerischer, Hank Hayes, Kasper Thuresson, and Will McCormick. PJ Burns and Quinn Culhane had the Rangers’ goals; in Culhane’s case, it’s her first GNASH goal, and it was actually the first goal of the game, marking the first time the Rangers have led a GNASH game. This game turned into an angry affair in the third, with a lot of penalties passed out to both sides.
Next game for both teams
Franklin: Tomorrow vs. Brentwood @ 8:40 PM @ Centennial A
Montgomery County Rangers: October 9 vs. Ensworth-Nolensville-Lipscomb @ 8:40 PM @ Centennial A
