Last night’s broadcast

Recapping last night’s games

The game that was broadcast by MTSN
Centennial-FRA 5 (2-2-0), Brentwood 1 (1-3-1)
Alex Aziminia scored the opening goal just 52 seconds in, when he hammered a one-timer into the back of the Brentwood net from the blue line. Nearly six minutes later, Aiden Gardner made it 2-0 when he skated to the left-hand side of the Bruins net, and backhanded the puck into the roof of it. Just 65 seconds into the second, John Caesar made it 3-0, when his shot leaked behind Brentwood goalie Collier Owen, and I’m not sure how it went in, whether Caesar reached behind and pushed it in, or Owen backed into the puck, and knocked it in. Just under three minutes into the third, Avery Aziminia (Alex’s younger sister) scored her first GNASH goal, when the puck came right to her in front from behind the net, and Owen didn’t see it, allowing her to backhand it into the open cage. Exactly three minutes later, Nick Claas scored Centennial’s final goal when he was able to knock in the rebound from his first saved shot. Will Hubbard prevented Brentwood from being shut out with 17 seconds left, when he roofed the puck from in front. Credit to Centennial’s defense - especially Claas - for constantly stripping the puck from the Bruins’ best players on the backcheck. I really don’t know if Jack Schultz’s absence for his suspension made a difference. As for the Aziminia siblings scoring, I know brothers have scored in the same GNASH game, but is this the first time a brother and sister have ever done it?

Next game for both teams
Centennial-FRA: Next Thursday vs. Rutherford Rampage @ 8:30 PM @ Antioch-North
Brentwood: Monday vs. Summit-Page @ 7:40 PM @ Centennial A or B

The night’s other games
Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson 4 (5-1-1), Summit-Page 3 (3-1-0)
Definitely did not see this result coming. Gideon Drobnick had a hat trick for the Commandos, with their other goal coming from Merrick Mott. Brayden Owen scored twice for the Spartans, and their other goal came from Jacob Rodrigue. The Commandos nearly let a 4-1 lead slip late, but held on, being outshot 18-14 in a defensive battle. A great win for Hendersonville. If they beat the Outlaws next Wednesday (they should), it won’t officially get them into the Predators Cup, but I think it will be good enough, especially with a free win against Montgomery County (sorry, Rangers) still down the line. Oh, and the Commandos are now first in the league. It’s been a while since we were able to say that.

Next game for both teams
Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson: Next Wednesday vs. Tennessee Outlaws @ 8:40 PM @ Centennial A
Summit-Page: Monday vs. Brentwood @ 7:40 PM @ Centennial A

Ensworth-Nolensville-Lipscomb 2 (4-0-0), Station Camp-Liberty Creek 1 (0-3-1)
Trex Hooper and Weston Heringer had the goals for the Ice Tigers, while Joey Siciliano had the only tally for the Bison. The star of the game has to be Station Camp goalie Keaton Howard, who made 30 saves on 32 Ensworth shots. Yes, it’s a loss, but holding the reigning Preds Cup champs to two goals is terrific for a team still seeking its first win of the season. The Bison play MBA on Monday; could they pull off a shocker?

Next game for both teams
Ensworth-Nolensville-Lipscomb: Monday vs. Father Ryan @ 8:30 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
Station Camp-Liberty Creek: Monday vs. Montgomery Bell @ 7:05 PM @ Centennial B or A
