Last night’s broadcast

Recapping last night’s games

The game that was broadcast by MTSN
Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson 6 (3-1-0), JPII-MLK-GCS 3 (0-2-1)
Just past the halfway point of the first, Caleb Carlance sent a backhanded centering pass to the front of the JPII net from the right wing corner, connecting with Caden Sisco, who got to the net all alone, and scored. Nearly 2:30 later, and with the Commandos on the power play, Carlance fired the puck into the roof of the net from the top of the left circle, and it was 2-0 Hendersonville after one. Nearly five minutes into the second, JPII got on the board, when Oscar Ford buried a rebound from a saved Jagger Dwyer shot from the left circle. Just 78 seconds later, the Commandos restored their lead to two on a 3-on-1: Merrick Mott, skating down the right wing, attempted to pass the puck across to Landon Croft, but whiffed; however, he had Gideon Drobnick trailing, so, he dropped the puck back to Drobnick, who took a one-timer from the right edge of the slot that went off the post to the right of Knights goalie Collier Owen, then off of Owen’s back and in. With 26.7 seconds left in the second, Croft drew a penalty shot when he was slashed by Michael McEver while on a breakaway; Croft converted it by firing the puck past Owen’s blocker from the slot, and it was 4-1 Commandos after two. Just 35 seconds into the third, and with JPII on the power play, Oscar Ford found David Bavas hanging out at the left-hand side of the Hendersonville net, he passed the puck to Bavas from the bottom of the left circle, and Bavas redirected it in. 5:30 later, Braden Rose made it 5-2, when Drobnick made a perfect pass to him from left wing to right wing, and he hammered it in. With three minutes left, Croft made a perfect loft pass from the far side of his own zone to Sisco, who got to the JPII blue line all alone, perfectly received the pass, then fired it past Owen’s blocker from the slot. One minute later, Larry Powell scored the game’s last goal, when he buried the rebound from a saved McEver shot.

So, the Rock Castle Cup has been played for twice, and each team has won it once. I awarded the MVPs to Oscar Ford for JPII, and Caden Sisco for Hendersonville. I just wish this game took place later in the season. Now we have to wait until January for another trophy to be awarded (the GNASH Cup to the regular season champions). I love having something like this on the calendar.

Next game for both teams
Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson: Next Monday vs. Station Camp-Liberty Creek-Nashville Christian @ 8:15 PM @ Centennial A
JPII-MLK-GCS: Next Monday vs. Ravenwood @ 4:45 PM @ Centennial A

The night’s other games
Brentwood-BA-USN 2 (0-2-1), Independence-Centennial 2 (2-1-1)
Will Hubbard and Bryce Akright scored the goals for the Bruins, while Aiden Gardner and Bryson Patton scored for the Eagles, the latter’s goal coming with 47 seconds left in the game while Indy were on the power play with an empty net. Brentwood will be very disappointed not to see this game out; it was one of the very few chances they have to win this season. Cash Branyan was ejected from the game early in the third for a boarding major. What a swing for Indy: Going from dominating a talented (but seemingly dysfunctional) Page team to nearly losing to this Brentwood team. GNASH has been weird so far this season.

Next game for both teams
Brentwood-BA-USN: Next Monday vs. Page-Summit @ 6:30 PM @ Centennial A
Independence-Centennial: October 29 vs. Clarksville Kings @ 7:10 PM @ Centennial A

Station Camp-Liberty Creek-Nashville Christian 2 (3-0-0), Page-Summit 1 (1-2-1)
Toby Mehaffy and Merritt Freeman scored the goals for the Bison (both of these goals were scored before the first period was halfway over), while Aiden Garner scored for Page with just 71 seconds left. What a win for Station Camp! And their perfect start to the season goes on! Are they headed for the Preds Cup? With results like this, yes. Meanwhile, another tough loss for Page. Brady Tessier was pulled after the Freeman goal, and Justin Iannuccilli finished the game. Yet again, an early-in-the-season two-game losing streak might derail the regular season campaign for the Spartriots.

Next game for both teams
Station Camp-Liberty Creek-Nashville Christian: Next Monday vs. Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson @ 8:15 PM @ Centennial A
Page-Summit: Next Monday vs. Brentwood-BA-USN @ 6:30 PM @ Centennial A

Father Ryan 4 (3-1-0), Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA 1 (1-2-0)
Gage Hart scored twice for the Fighting Irish, with their other goals coming from Ridgeway Lambert and Hudson Laux, while Sully Henson scored his first GNASH goal for the Ice Tigers. Zach Fonnesbeck picks up his first win of the season. With results like this, and the win over MBA two weeks ago, the Irish won’t be defending the Hine Cup, because they’ll be playing for something bigger.

Next game for both teams
Father Ryan: Next Monday vs. Nolensville @ 7:40 PM @ Centennial B
Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA: November 3 vs. Tennessee Outlaws @ 8:15 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp

Nolensville 4 (3-0-1), Franklin 2 (2-2-0)
Henry Cravens, Logan Campbell, Spencer Kern, and Carson Ragancik scored the Knights’ goals, with Ragancik’s tally being his first in GNASH, while Josh Yurjevich and David Unger scored for the Admirals. Two straight losses for Franklin, with another big gun (emphasis on “big”) pointing at them next week. Looking at the GameSheet, Franklin outshot Nolensville 38-18. Bingston Soundara is the GOAT.

Next game for both teams
Nolensville: Next Monday vs. Father Ryan @ 7:40 PM @ Centennial B
Franklin: Next Monday vs. Montgomery Bell @ 8:15 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp

Ravenwood 6 (3-0-1), Montgomery Bell 3 (2-2-0)
Keaton Moffitt scored four goals for the Raptors, with their other two coming from Timo Holan and Jake Farrell (according to the GameSheet, Reese Mackenzie had the secondary assist on Farrell’s goal; is that her first GNASH point?), while Trace Graham, Ethan Moore, and Ethan Sides scored for the Big Red. MBA actually took a 3-2 lead in the third, only for the Raptors to come back. It really looks like we’re on a path for another Ravenwood/Nolensville collision.

Next game for both teams
Ravenwood: Next Monday vs. JPII-MLK-GCS @ 4:45 PM @ Centennial A
Montgomery Bell: Next Monday vs. Franklin @ 8:15 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
