Recapping last night’s games

The games that were broadcast by MTSN

Summit-Page 6 (4-2-0), Station Camp-Liberty Creek 3 (1-4-1)
Andrew Grooms scored the game’s first goal with just 81 seconds left in the first, when the puck caromed his way when he was already at center ice all alone; he raced down the Summit slot, and shot it into the roof of the net. The Bison were shorthanded. 21 seconds later, Elijah Selby tied the game for the Spartans on the power play, when he shot the puck into the right-hand side of the Bison net from the right circle. It was 1-1 after one. Nearly five minutes into the second, Hunter Haley gave Summit the lead, when he banged in a rebound from a stopped Conlee Meeks shot at the right-hand side of the Station Camp net. Just over five minutes later, he did it again, this time potting a rebound from a stopped Aiden Meyer shot. With 35 seconds left in the second, Grooms scored his second goal of the game when he got space down the left wing side of the Spartans zone, and shot the puck into the net off the inside of the right-hand post. It was 3-2 Summit after two. With just under four minutes left, Selby scored his second goal of the game, when his shot from the blue line found its way into the roof of the net; it went in just as a Summit power play was expiring. 75 seconds later, Joey Siciliano got the Bison back within one, when he shot the puck into the back of the net from the left circle. Summit would then score two empty netters to put the game away: One from Brayden Owen, and the second from Haley to complete his hat trick. The Spartans snap the two-game losing streak.

Next game for both teams
Summit-Page: Next Monday vs. Centennial-FRA @ 7:40 PM @ Centennial B
Station Camp-Liberty Creek: Next Wednesday vs. Franklin @ 7:10 PM @ Centennial A

Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson 2 (6-1-1), Tennessee Outlaws 1 (2-3-0)
No goals were scored in the first period. Just over five minutes into the second, Dalton Alejandro scored the game’s first goal, when he took a shot from the left point that appeared to take a deflection, then hit Commandos goalie Griffen Rumbaugh before going in. 77 seconds later, Carter Morrison tied the game with a backhanded wraparound goal that he put in from the left-hand side of the Outlaws’ net. It was 1-1 after two. Landon Croft scored the game-winner just 82 seconds into the third, when his shot from the slot appeared to leak through Outlaws goalie Justin Iannuccilli into the back of the net. Great performances by both goaltenders. Like I said, I think the Commandos have done enough to get into the Predators Cup this season.

Next game for both teams
Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson: November 6 vs. Ensworth-Nolensville-Lipscomb @ 8:30 PM @ Centennial B
Tennessee Outlaws: Next Wednesday vs. Montgomery County Rangers @ 8:45 PM @ Centennial A

The night’s other game

Montgomery Bell 5 (3-1-1), JPII-MLK 2 (4-1-0)
Ethan Sides had a hat trick for the Big Red, and Matthew Moore scored their other two goals. Saxon Clements and David Bavas had the Knights’ goals. A great rebound result for MBA after the loss to Station Camp on Monday, especially because of who’s waiting around the corner.

Next game for both teams
Montgomery Bell: Next Monday vs. Ravenwood @ 5:30 PM @ Centennial A
JPII-MLK: Next Monday vs. Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Green Hill @ 8:30 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp

Standings

Previewing tonight’s game

Rutherford Rampage (2-3-0) vs. Centennial-FRA (2-2-0) - 8:30 PM @ Antioch-North
This should be a great game. Hopefully, we’ll get the best goaltending matchup (Jackson Wilson vs. Drew Stratton). Centennial only have one scorer with more than three points (leading scorer Nick Claas has five), while the Rampage have five with three or more. I think the depth is pretty even, though. I could see this going either way.

Pick: Centennial
