Last night’s broadcast

Recapping last night’s games

The game that was broadcast by MTSN

Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson 4 (3-1-1), Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Green Hill 0 (0-4-1)
The Commandos took the lead just 26 seconds into the game, when a backhand shot from Gideon Drobnick rolled up the chest of Bears goalie Kaz Cronrath, and into the back of the net. The 1-0 lead held up through the rest of the first. Drobnick then made it 2-0 just 48 seconds into the second, when he roofed a shot from the Bears’ left circle. 2:01 later, Christian Dickens made it 3-0, when he roofed a shot from the bottom of that same left circle. It remained 3-0 until 38.8 seconds left in the game, when Landon Croft scored an empty net goal. Great start to the season for the Commandos; they are now in sole possession of second in the table. They won’t stay there because they’re not a top team, but, I think if they win just three more games, they’ll get a place in the Predators Cup.

Next game for both teams
Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson: October 14 vs. Station Camp-Liberty Creek @ 7 PM @ Centennial B
Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Green Hill: October 14 vs. Independence-BA-USN-Nashville Christian @ 5:30 PM @ Centennial B

The night’s other games

JPII-MLK 7 (3-0-0), Independence-BA-USN-Nashville Christian 1 (0-4-0)
Clayton Roach led the scoring, with four goals (he also had an assist). The Knights’ other goals came from Nick Hollis, Kade Ziemendorf, and Joe Hiller. The Eagles’ lone goal was scored by Brody Wales. According to the box score, shots on goal in the third were 1-0 in favor of JPII.

Next game for both teams
JPII-MLK: October 14 vs. Franklin @ 8:30 PM @ Centennial B
Independence-BA-USN-Nashville Christian: Monday vs. Montgomery Bell @ 7 PM @ Centennial B

Franklin 3 (5-0-0), Brentwood 0 (1-2-1)
Kasper Thuresson scored twice for the Admirals, with Mykyta Popov scoring the other goal. I think you can use ink to write Franklin into the Preds Cup field at this point.

Next game for both teams
Franklin: October 14 vs. JPII-MLK @ 8:30 PM @ Centennial B
Brentwood: October 16 vs. Centennial-FRA @ 8:40 PM @ Centennial A

Standings

Previewing tonight’s game

Ravenwood (2-0-0) vs. Rutherford Rampage (1-2-0) - 8:30 PM @ Antioch-North
Last October 25, at the same venue (though on the South Rink), the Rampage beat the Raptors 5-1. It was easily their second-biggest win of last season behind beating Brentwood in the Hine Cup Final. Jackson Wilson returned from injury to play in goal for Rutherford, making 39 saves on 40 shots, the Raptors’ lone goal coming from Bennett Nichols with just under five minutes left in the first. Dylan Welch scored twice for the Rampage, with Justin Dickinson (he actually had the game-winning goal on this occasion), Tucker Wilhelm, and Eddie Maze contributing the other three. Dickinson and the Raptors’ goalie for that night, Brady Miller, are now graduated, and Cooper Hill didn’t play. Other than that, the teams’ lineups for tonight should be similar (with Colin Gower in Brady Miller’s place). Will Rutherford do it again? If they do, it would send a huge signal that this Ravenwood team is beatable. I’m having a hard time seeing it happen again, though.

Pick: Ravenwood
