Recapping last night’s games
The games that were broadcast by MTSN
Franklin 2 (2-0-0), Brentwood-BA-USN 0 (0-2-0)
Wyatt Gerischer scored the game’s first goal just 51 seconds in; Cole Wright took a shot from the slot that Bruins goalie Andrew Sallee saved, with Gerischer crashing the net to bury the rebound in the bottom right-hand corner. The 1-0 lead held up all the way until early in the third. With just over ten minutes left, the Admirals were about to go on the power play, when Braden Coleman fired the puck into the back of the net from the left circle to give them a cushion, and they held on from there. Sallee once again kept Brentwood from being totally buried. Pretty boring game, if you ask me.
Next game for both teams
Franklin: October 13 vs. Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson @ 8:15 PM @ Centennial A (it reads Centennial B at the moment, but that should be changed on the GNASH website soon)
Brentwood-BA-USN: October 20 vs. Independence-Centennial @ 4:45 PM @ Centennial A (same note as above)
Page-Summit 6 (1-0-1), Ravenwood 6 (1-0-1)
This game was crazy, especially the second period. Brayden Owen opened the scoring just over 5:30 in, when he buried the puck on a netmouth scramble that had Raptors goalie Reese Mackenzie facing the endboards. Nearly six minutes later, with Page on the power play, the puck slid through center into the Spartriots’ zone; Oliver Lutz got ahead of everyone, got the puck, moved in on goal, and backhanded it past Brady Tessier to tie the game shorthanded. With just 22 seconds left in the period, Aiden Garner picked a loose puck up at center, brought it back down the left wing, closed in on goal, and beat Mackenzie five-hole, and Page-Summit led 2-1 after one. Just 93 seconds into the second, and Ravenwood on the power play, Grady Fernan passed the puck across the front of the net from the left circle, where Keaton Moffitt was waiting at the backdoor to bury it in the right-hand side of the net and tie the game again. 83 seconds later, Aiden Garner weaved through the Ravenwood defense, got to the front of the net, and fired it in past Mackenzie. Just over two minutes later, with the Raptors back on the power play, Jake Farrell went to the front of the Page net unnoticed, allowing Brady Friedman to pass him the puck from the right point, where Farrell redirected it through Tessier’s five-hole. 54 seconds later, the Spartriots went back in front, when Hunter Haley got to the left-hand side of the net, and his pass attempt across the front of the net hit something and went in. Just 19 seconds later, Page went up 5-3, when Hudson Halters buried the puck from right in front of the Ravenwood net. 52 seconds later, the Raptors got back within one, when Fernan tipped a Farrell shot past Tessier while standing at his left-hand post, and somehow, the final 6:47 of the second passed without anyone scoring, and it was 5-4 Page after two. Nearly three minutes into the third, a faceoff occurred in the Ravenwood zone to Mackenzie’s left. Page won it, and Reeve Gabele immediately shot it from the right edge of the slot into the back of the net to restore their two-goal lead. 71 seconds later, with Ravenwood on another power play, Brady Friedman took a shot from the left point that found its way into the roof of the Page net. Fernan then scored the game’s final goal nearly three minutes later, when he took a shot from the top of the left circle that went into the roof of the net. Page dominated the first half of this game, not letting Ravenwood past the red line quite a bit. They had numerous chances to put the game away and didn’t. They also need to shore up the defense (same goes for the Raptors). It was an entertaining game, unless you’re a goalie.
Next game for both teams
Page-Summit: October 15 vs. Independence-Centennial @ 8:30 PM @ Centennial B
Ravenwood: October 13 vs. Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Lebanon @ 5 PM @ Centennial A
The night’s other games
Tennessee Outlaws 3 (0-1-1), Nolensville 3 (1-0-1)
Josh Kuehn scored twice for the Outlaws, with their other goal coming from James Daniel, while Charlie Bohnert scored twice for the Knights, with their other goal coming from Spencer Kern. I’m told that Bingston Soundara started the game, but was replaced after giving up the Outlaws’ first goal by Isaac Wenck, who then gave up the other two goals, then, according to the Gamesheet, gave way to Soundara for the third. That’s some odd goaltending strategy, not gonna lie. The Outlaws will definitely take the point.
Next game for both teams
Tennessee Outlaws: Next Monday vs. Clarksville Kings @ 6 PM @ Centennial A
Nolensville: October 13 vs. Rutherford Rampage @ 6:15 PM @ Centennial A
Montgomery Bell 7 (2-0-0), Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA 3 (1-1-0)
Trace Graham, Matthew Moore, and Ethan Moore each scored twice for the Big Red, while Conner Mazzoni had their other goal, his first in GNASH. Logan Green scored twice for Ensworth, with their other goal coming from Clayton Roach. According to the Gamesheet, it was 3-3 early in the second before MBA rattled off four unanswered.
Next game for both teams
Montgomery Bell: Next Monday vs. Father Ryan @ 7:45 PM @ Centennial A
Ensworth-Lipscomb-CPA: October 20 vs. Father Ryan @ 6:30 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
JPII-MLK-GCS 3 (0-1-1), Rutherford Rampage 3 (0-1-1)
Jagger Dwyer, David Bavas, and Larry Powell had the goals for the Knights, while Graham Sourek, Cooper Feasel, and Harry Segars had the goals for the Rampage. For Powell, it was his first GNASH goal.
Next game for both teams
JPII-MLK-GCS: October 20 vs. Hendersonville-Beech-Lawson (game currently scheduled for 7:40 @ Centennial A, but this is the second time that the Rock Castle Cup, the new rivalry trophy that these two teams play for, will be at stake, and games at Centennial are being switched from the original schedule, so, we’ll say TBD for this one)
Rutherford Rampage: October 13 vs. Nolensville @ 6:30 PM @ Centennial A
Independence-Centennial 2, (1-1-0), Father Ryan 0 (1-1-0)
Bryson Patton and Nick Claas had the goals for the Eagles, with Patton not scoring the game-winner until there were 20 seconds left in the second. This is Mark Layne’s first win as a GNASH head coach since October 30, 2013, when he guided a scholastic Centennial to a 6-3 win over Pope John Paul II.
Next game for both teams
Independence-Centennial: October 15 vs. Page-Summit @ 8:30 PM @ Centennial B
Father Ryan: Next Monday vs. Montgomery Bell @ 7:45 PM @ Centennial A
