Recapping last night’s game

2024 GNASH All-Star Game
Knights 5, Dixie Flyers 3 PODCAST LINK
In an unusually low-scoring All-Star Game, it was the Knights team coached by Rutherford Rampage’s Mike Jones, Pope Prep-MLK-GCA’s Justin Clark, and Summit-Page’s Greg Sauers coming out on top. The Dixie Flyers led 2-0 after one on goals from USN’s Ryan Barrett and Ensworth’s Trex Hooper. MBA’s Lee Guy got the Knights on the board in the second, with Ensworth’s Justin Nozko making it 3-1 Flyers a few minutes later. Towards the end of the period, USN’s Barrett Teasdale, who was playing with more intensity than the others, tripped Summit’s Zach Ellis, causing Ellis to be awarded a penalty shot. He converted it to make it 3-2 Dixie Flyers, and that was the score after two. In the third, the Knights won the game on goals from Brentwood’s Aidan Pustizzi, and second goals for Ellis and Guy. Since Ellis’s goal was the winning goal, and Guy’s second was an empty-netter, Ellis was awarded MVP. Pope’s Anthony Pellegrino was awarded Most Valuable Goaltender for making 21 saves on 22 shots, having played half the game, taking over from MBA’s Hunter Wieck in the second, executing a goaltending change during play (the Knights’ other goalie, Rutherford’s Alec Dawes, withdrew due to travel obligations). Father Ryan’s Zach Fonnesbeck, who played the first period for the Dixie Flyers, turned away all 10 shots he faced, with Independence’s Trent Pavlik allowing two goals in the second, and Ensworth’s Bingston Soundara allowing three in the third (I mean, the kid won a Preds Cup the night before, so, who cares, right?).
