Since there was only one game last night, the podcast link for its broadcast will be included in the game recap to prevent any redundancy.
Recapping last night’s game
Tennessee Outlaws 4 (1-0-1), Hendersonville-Beech-Gallatin 4 (0-1-1)
PODCAST LINK
It felt like the Outlaws were going to run off with the game after jumping out to a 3-0 lead past the midway point of the first (especially when the first goal - scored by Josh Kuehn - came just 48 seconds into the contest), with Kuehn, Jacob Schenk, and James Daniel tallying the scores. But towards the end of the first, Hendersonville began to tilt the ice in their favor. Merrick Mott scored their first goal of the season to have them down 3-1 after the first 14 minutes. They then won the opening faceoff to start the second, and Patrick Sullivan buried a rebound from a saved Carter Morrison shot to get the Commandos within a goal just nine seconds into the middle frame. Just over two-and-a-half minutes later, Nate Luke scored from the top of the right circle in the Outlaws’ zone to tie the game. Sullivan nearly gave Hendersonville the lead just minutes later, when he suddenly had a breakaway after catching the Outlaws in a change, but he lost the puck deking as he moved to the front of the net. Hendersonville would take the lead towards the end of the second, when a Kaden Smith shot from right in front of the blue line ended up in the roof of the net. It felt like the Commandos had won the game, but past the midway point of the third, Gage Salamy gifted the Outlaws a power play when he got a roughing call during a stoppage. Tennessee would convert the power play, as Clive Keeler potted the rebound on a saved Blake Rhodehamel shot to bring the game to its eventual final score. According to the scoreboard, Hendersonville had 34 shots on goal. From my estimation, it was over 40. And many of them were quality shots. The Commandos will definitely feel that they should’ve won this game. They were certainly the better team from the second period on.
