Previewing tonight’s games

Hendersonville-Beech-Gallatin (0-1-1) vs. Station Camp-Liberty Creek (0-1-1) - 7:10 PM @ Centennial A
MTSN broadcast begins at 7 PM BROADCAST LINK
Well, Hendersonville sure shut me up on Monday, coming back from a 3-0 deficit against the Tennessee Outlaws to end up with a 4-4 tie in a game, that, in all honesty, the Commandos should’ve won. They took a 4-3 lead late in the second, and probably would’ve held onto it if not for the silly penalty Gage Salamy took during a stoppage that gave the Outlaws a power play chance that they converted to rescue a point. The dynamics of this matchup are weird, though. Both teams have suffered a blowout loss (each getting whipped by Ensworth-Nolensville-Lipscomb - the Commandos were on the wrong end of a 6-0 clobbering, while the Bison gave up one more goal in their 7-0 defeat), and each saw a game they should’ve won end up tied (Hendersonville on Monday against the Outlaws, while, on Opening Night September 25th, Station Camp held a 5-4 lead over USN-BA-Nashville Christian-FRA-Goodpasture until Brody Wales scored the tying goal with seven seconds left…on a power play). This feels like it has the makings of a back-and-forth game with a lot of goals.

I’ll pick Hendersonville to win.

Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Green Hill (0-2-0) vs. Rutherford Rampage (0-1-0) - 8:40 PM @ Centennial A
MTSN broadcast begins at 8:30 PM BROADCAST LINK
This is the first game of the season with real consequences at stake: A Rampage win means that Franklin claim a place in Tier 1 for the rest of the regular season, and a Predators Cup berth for the postseason. Any other result prevents that, but it would only be delaying the inevitable, in the 4-0 Admirals’ case. Based on how everyone else around them is performing (except Brentwood; feels weird typing that), this feels like a must-win. Mt. Juliet got ground up by Pope Prep-MLK-GCA on September 25th, losing a gritty affair 2-1. Then, after holding Franklin goalless through the first period two nights later, eventually got run off the ice in a 6-0 loss. Meanwhile, in the one game they’ve played, the Rampage lost a heartbreaking high-scorer 6-4 to Montgomery Bell on September 27th. It feels like the Rampage have more scoring talent on their side here.

I’ll go with Rutherford.
