Recapping last night’s games

Hendersonville-Beech-Gallatin 4 (1-1-2), Centennial 4 (0-2-1)
The Commandos needed just 85 seconds to take the lead, as Christian Dickens scored his first GNASH goal. Late in the period, Aiden Gardner tied the game on a shorthanded goal. Hendersonville took a 3-1 lead into the third period from second period goals by Braden Rose and Landon Croft (their first GNASH goals, as well). The Cougars would make up the deficit. First, Cooper Davis scored just five minutes into the third. Exactly six minutes later, Calvin Zacharias tied the game up. Just over a minute after that, Brendan Mitchell gave Centennial a 4-3 lead. But just like the USN game, the comeback here was for naught, as Dom Harpole scored just under a minute later with the Hendersonville net empty to have the game finish all square. Oh, that goal was Harpole’s first, as well.

Summit-Page 8 (2-0-0), Station Camp-Liberty Creek 1 (0-3-1)
The Spartans needed just less than half of the first period to shake off the rust of a three-week layoff, as Cam White scored the game’s first goal on a power play. Later in the period, Cody Lightfoot made it 2-0 on a breakaway. Summit seized the game in the second, with four goals, two from Hunter Haley, and the others from James Gilmartin and Colin Breedlove. After his team went down 5-0, Station Camp starting goalie Keaton Howard was replaced by Carter Gilleece. Early in the third, Toby Mehaffy scored the Bison’s first goal since their season opener against USN on September 25, taking advantage of a silly giveaway by Zach Ellis to bank the puck off of Summit netminder Brady Tessier and over the goal line. The amount of GNASH game time that had elapsed between Station Camp goals? Nearly two full hours (1 hour and 56 minutes, 4 seconds, to be exact). Ellis made up for his error later in the period, scoring off a Cam White centering pass, before Hudson Halters scored the game’s final goal on a netmouth scramble. A third loss for the Bison doesn’t officially doom them to stay in Tier 2 for the rest of the regular season, but it pretty much means it’s going to happen.
