Recapping last night’s games

Ensworth-Nolensville-Lipscomb 6 (4-0-0), USN-BA-Nashville Christian-FRA-Goodpasture 0 (2-0-1)
The fast-and-loose Ice Tigers offense overwhelmed the smaller USN squad. Just over three minutes in, Ben Sonkin scored his first of two goals, as he smashed a rebound from his own shot past USN netminder Ben Schwarz. Nearly seven minutes later, Jackson Malleus-Mayer extended the lead, hammering a centering pass into the roof of the net. 15 seconds after that, Justin Nozko found Trex Hooper all alone in front. Nozko’s pass connected, and Hooper slid it past Schwarz to make it 3-0. With 1:51 to first, JT Borland made it 4-0, when his shot hit Schwarz, but had enough momentum to loop over him, and land in the back of the net. Malleus-Mayer scored his second goal of the game on a power play in the second, and Sonkin added his second in the third to bring the game to its 6-0 final.

Next game for both teams
Ensworth-Nolensville-Lipscomb: Tomorrow vs. Tennessee Outlaws - 7:30 PM @ Antioch-North
USN-BA-Nashville Christian-FRA-Goodpasture: Next Monday vs. Summit-Page - 5:15 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp

Pope Prep-MLK-GCA 4 (3-3-0), Brentwood 0 (1-4-0)
Brentwood had a relentless attack from the opening faceoff, but Knights goalie Anthony Pellegrino - back after missing last Friday’s game against Rutherford due to being on travel duty in Detroit - turned away all 26 of their shots. Pope finally rewarded Pellegrino’s hard work in the second period, when Jack Davis scored the winning goal with 2:41 left in the middle frame. They put the game away in the third, behind goals from Jacob Sullivan (power play), Joe Hiller, and Clayton Roach (also on the power play). And this result, along with Father Ryan’s win over Rutherford, has set up an almighty shocking scenario: If Mt. Juliet beat Brentwood tomorrow night, combined with a Ravenwood win over Rutherford, Brentwood will be relegated to Tier 2 for the second half of the regular season, and play in the Henry Hine Cup in the postseason. I put those words in bold and italics because I’m just as shocked typing them as you are reading them.

Next game for both teams
Brentwood: Tomorrow vs. Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central-Green Hill - 7:10 PM @ Centennial A
Pope Prep-MLK-GCA: November 1 vs. Ravenwood - 8:15 PM @ Antioch-South

Franklin 1, (4-0-1), Montgomery Bell 1 (5-0-1)
Big Red goalie Hunter Wieck is the reason this game ended in a tie. He turned away 35 of 36 Admiral shots (MBA only had 16), and Franklin had quite a few power plays, too. Michael Mannion scored the Admirals’ only goal with 4:53 left in the first, and Hunter Musser scored his first GNASH goal 42 seconds into the second on a broken play to bring the game to a 1-1 tie. The result sets up a fun race to the finish for the GNASH Cup when the second half rolls around. This would also be an amazing Predators Cup Final matchup.

Next game for both teams
Franklin: Tomorrow vs. Father Ryan - 8:30 PM @ Centennial B
Montgomery Bell: Next Monday vs. Ravenwood - 8:25 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp

Centennial 4 (2-2-1), Station Camp-Liberty Creek 1 (1-4-1)
Blake Butcher scored the opening goal just under two minutes into the game, and Rhett Gordon made it 2-0 Cougars with 53 seconds left in the first period. Alex Aziminia’s power play tally nearly three minutes into the second had Centennial up 3-0 at the second break. Joey Siciliano scored for the Bison just 16 seconds into the third, but any comeback hopes were squashed by Brendan Mitchell restoring the Cougars’ three-goal advantage just past the halfway point of the final frame. The result means that Station Camp-Liberty Creek will remain in Tier 2 for the second half of the regular season, and play in the Henry Hine Cup in the postseason.

Next game for both teams:
Station Camp-Liberty Creek: Next Monday vs. Tennessee Outlaws - 6 PM @ Centennial B
Centennial: Tomorrow vs. Independence-Ravenwood 2 - 8:40 PM @ Centennial A

Father Ryan 7 (3-2-0), Rutherford Rampage 1 (0-4-0)
As of 9 AM, the box score for this game was still not posted on the GNASH website.

Next game for both teams
Father Ryan: Tomorrow vs. Franklin - 8:30 PM @ Centennial B
Rutherford Rampage: Tomorrow vs. Ravenwood - 8:15 PM @ Antioch-South

Summit-Page 7 (3-1-0), Independence-Ravenwood 2 0 (0-5-0)
Hudson Halters scored the winning goal just past the halfway point of the first. Sean Scott made it 2-0 in the second. Then, the floodgates opened in the third, as the Spartans scored five goals, all coming within a five-minute span, and bookended by goals from Brayden Owen - the only multi-goal scorer of the game - with goals by Zach Ellis, Elijah Selby, and Hunter Haley being sandwiched by them. The result means that Independence-Ravenwood 2 will remain in Tier 2 for the second half of the regular season, and play in the Henry Hine Cup in the postseason.

Next game for both teams
Summit-Page: Next Monday vs. USN-BA-Nashville Christian-FRA-Goodpasture - 5:15 PM @ Bellevue-Crisp
