MTSN GNASH Newsletter for September 26, 2023
Editor’s note: Apologies for this newsletter being late. As of 8:30 AM, last night’s GNASH scores have still not been entered on the GNASH website. I was hoping to write small recaps for each game; but I didn’t want to keep you waiting any longer on this newsletter, so, only the games we broadcast last night have recaps.

Recapping last night’s GNASH games
Games broadcast by MTSN
Father Ryan 5 (1-0-0), Ravenwood 1 (0-1-0)
Father Ryan’s goalie lottery draftee Zach Fonnesbeck played almost flawlessly, stopping 31 of 32 Raptors shots. He made crucial breakaway saves on the likes of Liam Powell and Jack Ready. No Cooper Hill clearly hurt the Ravenwood offense. Colton Edwards scored twice for the Irish, including having the game-winning goal, while the other tallies came from Carter Middleton, Austin Hester, and Colin Sullivan. Brady Friedman had the lone tally for Ravenwood, the sophomore’s first GNASH goal. Friedman was the first player to put the puck into the back of the net in the first period, but the goal was disallowed due to offsides.
Next game for both teams:
Father Ryan: Tomorrow vs. Pope Prep-MLK-GCA @ 7:10 PM - Centennial A
Ravenwood: Tomorrow vs. Brentwood @ 8:15 PM - Antioch-South
Tennessee Outlaws 6 (1-0-0), Independence-Ravenwood 2 2 (0-1-0)
Senior Jacob Schenk recorded a hat trick, his first goal coming just 29 seconds into the game. It looked as if the Outlaws would run off with the game in the first after Josh Kuehn made it 2-0, but Torrin Kemble converted a 5-on-3 power play to bring the Eagles within one. Minutes later, though, Schenk scored his second goal of the game, winning a foot race with Ryan Hoverson to a loose puck in the Indy zone. Nine seconds later, Dalton Alejandro scored his first GNASH goal while falling down. In the second period, Indy goaltender Catcher Greyson was removed from the game following contact with the Outlaws’ Clive Keeler. Backup Trent Pavlik eventually gave up the Outlaws’ fifth goal to Andrew Lietz, followed by Schenk finishing his hat trick with a power play tally. Landric Mayeski had the Eagles’ other goal.
Next game for both teams:
Independence-Ravenwood 2: Next Monday vs. USN-BA-Nashville Christian-FRA-Goodpasture @ 5:15 PM - Bellevue-Crisp
Tennessee Outlaws: October 9 vs. Hendersonville-Beech-Gallatin @ 7:40 PM - Centennial A
Franklin 5 (1-0-0), Brentwood 2 (0-1-0)
An impressive victory for the Admirals, their first over Brentwood in over 15 years (sadly, GNASH records only go back to 2007-08, with some early years available to find, but not all scores can be found). Senior Hudson Richards put the Admirals up 1-0 just inside the first three minutes. Quinn Lohse tipped a shot from little brother Hudson early in the second to put Franklin up 2-0. Franklin then shook off an Aidan Pustizzi goal with a beautiful tic-tac-toe power play tally, as Kasper Thuresson found Gavin Akers in front; Akers then backhanded the puck to MacLaine Butters, who finished the play. Jack Schultz brought Brentwood within 3-2, but third period goals from Brandon Mills and a second from Butters sealed the victory for Franklin.
